Which is probably why they had a hard time putting up runs this weekend.

obviously hindsight doesnt mean much, but when we were bunting over in the first and second, i didnt like it too much. we gave poche more than an inning in free outs with 4 sac bunts. the saying is hitting is contagious. i would have liked to see us swing away early in the game with the lead off man aboard. like i said thats easy to say now, and if we could have gotten some timely hits off poche things may have been different.

i also think the single play that turned the game was the doubly play line out to foster. if it gets by him its at least one run, instead it was out the inning and the fans really got into it after that.

fun weekend, good baseball.

I graduated from both schools although I have always favored LSU in sports. I would have liked to see them meet in Omaha rather than Baton Rouge, just so that I could say Louisiana had two teams there. I have some issues about how the NCAA sets up regional play, but that is another topic.

But USL (always will be USL to me)is about as good as a mid level SEC team this year. The two games were close, but LSU is clearly the better team. They should be good next year, but LSU is LSU and will be very good every year.

I don't understand all the Lafayette foolishness over the name, though. Call them whatever you want, they are who they are. The name will not make them better funded, larger, or give more academic credibility.

He was referring to McNeese "knowing their place" in regards to LSU. Your reading comprehension needs some work.

Farther than you all got last year. Remember Houston or was that the Stony Brook mid major. But that was last year. LSU got the clutch hits, and UL did not. I hope that LSU wins it all. I am a fan of all Louisiana schools.

Still holds true. McNeese owns their arse and yet ULLLLLLL tries to act like they own this state.

but most fans I know were level headed enough to realize they had a better season than they expected and had a tough regional pairing.

I wish I knew those ULL fans. Most of the ones I know are only aware of what their sports teams are doing when they are playing LSU or in the NOLA bowl.

In truth most of their fans that I'm acquainted with thought they were a bit over-rated to start the season. (They were picked to win the SB). As the season progressed most of them were shocked that the team's young pitching improved so rapidly, therefore I agree with the take that this year was a huge success for them. Like LSU they do lose their best player and several everyday guys but return a boat-load of good pitching. Like LSU they typically find some good JC talent to plug the gaps. I believe both will be very good again next season.

Their record seems to indicate they were indeed in a rebuilding year. Won their regional as a three seed and were subsequently swept in a super.

Rebuilding doesn't have to mean down year. Rebuilding only indicates there are new pieces making up the whole.
