My question is, how did L.Collins get on this Thorpe award list? To my knowledge, he's only just become a starter due to injuries/suspensions.

His only play of note is an 89-yard INT for a TD against Tennessee. Bama was up 28-0 at the time.

Is this just the fact that someone from Bama has to be on every awards watch list?

A few years its just 1 recruit, but its the top recruit...Im hoping its not trending to multiple top recruits...(WR's such as Trovon Reed and such dont bother me as much as OL/DL and RB's, Joe Mcknights will happen and offensive skill players are plentiful but you cant miss on the big boys, and Landon Collins was a huge miss, I believe Robinson will be as well...

losing the Saint Aug RB (a very real possibility) would be the nail in the coffin...(meaning Saban can get the top talent in our own back yard)

I could care less about pulling from other states, it happens everywhere, fact is you have to keep the top talent in OUR state at LSU. It is one of the corner stones that brought us to national relevence

Yes, because my argument is that we've never landed in-state guys.

So when coaches take a new job and say the first thing they must do is lock down the talent in their particular state they are lying? In-state talent has ZERO bearing on a programs potential for success? NONE at all? Having a guy in your state that you want isn't weighted just a little bit? Bottom line is, we all consider LSU as one of the top football programs in the nation. Players outside of Louisiana do as well. The ideal is to keep the players we want in state and go and poach other top players from out of state. quote:Now, I'll admit, if we start losing more guys this year along the lines of Fournette, Hootie, etc. to Bama, there is certainly cause for concern. Of course there is. The goal is to beat Alabama and win the West and compete for championships. If Bama keeps getting the top La. talent - guys that we really want - that hinders our ability to reach our goals.

well said, couldnt say it better myself...

we arent Oklahoma, we dont have to recruit Texas to be successful, we have an abundance here, and I believe Saban said it best when he was here, "we must keep the instate talent here"...think he did preatty well here...

I didn't think he (LC) even started - was a nickel back or first sub.

Yo, TigerFan55555 ... thanks for pointing that out and giving us a "heads up" on this situation. Its about time someone brought this up ! ... i wonder how all the schools in other states keep all their in-state players from ever going out-of-state ... How come this only happens in Louisiana. Someone needs to investigate and PROVIDE SOME ANSWERS! We DEMAND it!

Guess what happens when your state has an abundance of talent. It draws attention from other schools in other states. You don't just get to keep everybody because you feel like you should.

Yeah, LSU fans, but you aren't one.

LSU football isn't getting every good player from Louisiana---that's big fricking news for you?

We never have and no school does.

Go away, troll.

So if I understand you right, LSU has to keep all of the top players in our state (however you manage to define THAT) but it's ok for LSU to poach top talent from other states? Is that about right? We get to keep ours but steal yours too?
