that includes UNO, TCU and Texas Tech.

anyone that gets concerned about the team losing gets bashed and is accused of "melting".

facts are facts. I don't like losing to McNeese either. last nights game was pathetic; 4 errors and our top 4 hitters got only 2 hits in 15 innings. we scored 3 runs in the first and then went dormant for 6 straight innings until we tied it up in the 9th. sweeping 2 northern teams at home in February and early march isn't a big accomplishment.

I don't know what this team is missing but they do not look like winners to me.

Why are you including a team that will finish 5th in a max two-bid league as "Top Competition"?

You do know UNO just got swept by SLU this past weekend and had lost 4-5 games right? I wouldn't put UNO and "Top competition" in the same sentence.

because one of the excuses I heard last night was that UNO was a tournament team. you say they'll finish 5th but they kicked our arse twice and what I've seen would do it if we played again.

take them out and we've lost 2 of 3 to top competition and got beat by the 5th place team and McNeese.

But they aren't. There is a good chance they finish below McNeese in their conference.

If we played a weekend series against UNO we would sweep them. Guaranteed
That's all that really matters

Top completion? UNO is top completion now? We lost twice to a glorified high school team. He should be embarrassed.

SEC play will tell us a lot more about this team than any midweek or other tournament game will

Still not time to panic. I hate losing too but the wheels haven't fallen off yet.

And the fact that we apparently don't have the leadership or pitching depth to beat them once during the week should be a warning sign. These aren't Skip's teams. Mainieri isn't exactly known for having his teams playing their best in June. There's no way to spin this crap, but reading all the attempts to do so tells me a lot about the arrogance of our fans.

You cant just turn it on and off, they have to be ready to play any day of the week.

Just because you say this isn't a melt doesn't mean it's not a melt.

Sweet melt.

Take a deep breath like I always say,
we're not even to SEC play.

While I agree there are some legitimate concerns with the bullpen other top programs are getting beat in these mid-week games more consistently than it seems in the past. FGCU just beat number 1 or 2 FSU last night 5-2. LINK /

They also beat UF. FGCU is a tiny school although there's a good chance they'll be in the tournament.

SEC play will tell us where we stand.

We will know when we go to UF. If they cannot hit UNO pitching you can bet they want touch UF pitching. I love the rational thinking "we would sweep them in a 3 game series" yep! A team that kicked our arse both games. That is like the fan who comments "if we played 10 times we would win 9" after losing 35-0.

What is going on is PM like LM has become complacent. Too damn lazy to go out and hire a quality hitting coach. Sticking with a pitching coach that has not developed any talent. If this trend continues and this team falls short of Omaha, PM needs to hit the road, and bring in the coach that should have been hired before PM was interviewed. He is in Oxfart now.

yes, but I actually see some things with the pen that encourage me. frankly, i'm more concerned with our offense and that is not just based on last nights game. sure, we have some with very good BA's but they have feasted against the weak northern teams pitching (army, air force, Maryland, witchita state).

no question. i'm probably judging the team too soon. I hope i'm wrong. for us to seriously challenge for the SEC our freshmen will have to get us there. Poche' and Lange will keep us in contention if the bullpen can preserve their work.

I've been around baseball for a long time. this team has plenty of time to come together and the talent is there. sometimes losing games in the beginning of the season are actually good for the team and I certainly hope that applies here. AND, we need our shortstop back. not only is his bat ice cold he has been struggling with his throws to first and I just hope the "yips" aren't creeping in. last night, after yet another failure at the plate he was walking back to the dugout with his head down. he needs to bounce back mentally. I think he will. his mom needs to kick him in the butt.

The way PM coached that game pitching wise told his team and the fans how important it was.

To him not much.
