It took Matt Flynn half a season to get his timing down with his receivers and they were pretty good ones.

1) expectations, they aren't a n.c. type team. they are 9-3 or 10-2.

2) lack of focus. With the academic suspensions and all the injuries, i think a lot of them came into camp out of shape and the grade issues show's lack of focus.

3) Z.M. He's better than what we had. With that said, he's not mobile, he doesn't recognize defenses pre-snap, and holds on to the ball to long. which brings me to 4.

4) left tackle, since z.m. doesn't make quick decisions, he needs a lot of time to scan the field. Therefore, we need to correct the l.t. spot, if we can't, then you're looking at 3 likely losses. (florida, bama, and a split with u.s.c. e and miss st.)

i think the defense isn't quite as dominate but is good enough. i think the young players will continue to get better in the system. this team will go as far as the offense can take them. last night showed they have a looooooong way to go.

I agree with this post. The hardest thing to accept is that they probably are not NC caliber this year. LSU is a good team that will have moments of greatness but unless we can correct some things I think 2 losses are likely. I'm just not sure to whom. Florida and Bama would be my guess.

What I saw was a young team that made some mistakes in its first SEC road game in a hostile environment against a team that was playing with a real sense of desperation.

Defense played great. Offense showed the ability to make plays, but isn't consistent yet.

Remember, LSU's offense dominated Aburn in the first quarter with 120 yards offense. Two fumbles negated that advantage and put Auburn back in the game.

The defense should only get better as all of the young players get experience and the game slows down for them. Mett is an accurate passer who made good decisions last night for the most part. The game will slow down for him, too and he should improve as the season goes on.

Exactly!

Some of yall are acting as if this team, six weeks down the road, will be playing exactly like they did last night.

ok, i'll take your word for it.

If you knew my posting history, you'd know i'm not one to be negative. I don't think i am now. i'm being fair and realistic in my assessment. I hope i'm wrong.

with that said, i don't see where this team is a n.c. team at this point. i think it has some obvious issues. hopefully they are correctable. after four games, i'm not sure they are.

LSU's expectations are almost always over the Top.

Lack of Focus...correct but the reasons are very weak. Why would a team 1 win from a NC the prior year have a focus issue... Coach ?

ZM may have better QB skills, but potential without results leads to those false expectations.
ZM needs a little passion .

The O line apparently are run block specialist. Or need a QB with some mobility.

LSU is not ready for their schedule ...Why Coach ?

6) delusional fan base who don't realize this is a marathon not a sprint. Injuries, upsets and close games are part of the journey. Don't get me wrong that was not a good performance but it's a win and now we basically have 2 weeks to prepare for Florida.

Left tackle is the biggest concern. We can't win the Ship with a LT playing on bad wheels . Florida and Carolina will eat his lunch. Losing Faulk was bigger lose. And Blue probaly will be needed down the strech.

It's hard to argue with most of this, except that I think the defense is solid and will get better as the new LB's and DB's get more experience. 3 & 4 are spot on. Josh D. is not an SEC caliber left tackle and Mettenberger's release is a tad slow.

I think it's also time to end the Studrawa experiment, reassign him back to the OL and hire an OC. We probably can't do it this year but there's a potentially great future that would be better realized with this coaching change.

I'm assuming the OP has never been to JHS. It's not an easy place to get a W. Our D is plenty good to carry us to Atlanta/Miami. Stop over thinking guys. We're a young team. Mett got his first test and he passed because we WON THE FOOTBALL GAME.

we dont turn the ball over we win by atleast 3 TDs and the stupidity on this board would be much less because half these idiots only come out after a loss or close win.

The Oline is a problem. Not sure how good those two ends are but we made them All Americans last night. I also expected more from OBJ based off of his play last year but he seems to have mental issues in football terms. Would of loved to see RR with Mett as his QB. Defense is solid.

How about #6: We don't have a creative offensive coordinator who can take advantage of the talent that he has. (Hint - Dont use your offensive line coach).

This is 9-3 talent, we are lucky to have Miles calling 50 toss dives into 10 man boxes and instilling the discipline to commit 18 penalties. Lets stop and smell the roses.

We ran 70+ plays almost 30 of them were passes...how many passes would be enough for you 'tards? we will never be West Virginia
The ignorance on this board is astonishing
