COuldnt even get out of his own regional last year! Dude sucks

quote:i was referring to SINCE '09. it doesn't matter. include '08 and things don't really change much
Mainieri has coached LSU to the CWS four times: 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2015.

quote:according to this link, you are wrong
State, Arky, A&M, Florida, Ole Miss, and Vandy just in the SEC put up just as much resources as LSU.
lsu is investing SIGNIFICANTLY more in the program than anyone else. therefore, it is reasonable to expect lsu to be second to none over a 7 year period.
quote:that doesn't explain the last several seasons and how other programs are doing better. add in the start this season and there is valid reason for frustration
wait give them a shot
quote:and either fall short of omaha or aren't competitive in omaha. i don't see how anyone can find that acceptable given the investment
CPM's teams always make a run late in the year.

quote:so you're not giving him time to build up to the last 6 years? makes sense. name someone who's done better than 4 appearances and 8-8 in 6 years.
4 appearances in 13 years
quote:not from me
produced 0 hardware which seems to be what all the bitching is about
quote:that's not what the discussion is about. it's about being competitive in omaha, the true measure of elite programs like lsu
or would you trade the CWS trophy for 8-8 record?

quote:being more competitive in omaha? good grief. does this seriously need explaining? it's like mainieri has brainwashed you into forgetting what the goal is
What are other programs accomplishing?
quote:what's your criteria? substantiate it/them
Name one coach right now that you would hire over PM?
quote:i'm betting your criteria are going to be silly at worst or conflicting at least
Just one and I bet I can make a great argument against it
quote:before he retired, he would DEFINITELY be a candidate. objectively better in omaha than mainieri

Brian O'Connor has a 12-8 CWS record in 4 appearances. Champs, Runner up, 3rd place, and 5th. No 2 and Q stints.
oh wait, you suck! you just expect lsu to win it all every year. you're ignorant about baseball. other programs are investing as much as lsu
in addition to his record, compare how much uva spends on baseball and tell me mainieri is producing equal results
btw, there are other names out there.

quote:you think 6-10 over 5 appearances since '09 is worse than mainieri's record over the same period? he's doing immensely better at a school that has inconsistent support
We should hire O'Sullivan
quote:there it is! the old fallback. mainieri's championship lives foreverrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
neither coach has won a national title?
quote:excluded middle. there is something in between dominating and mainieri's results.
no one is dominating college baseball in this landscape.
quote:therein lies the rub. people are ok with investing more than anyone else, ALOT more, but being 5-10 over 7 years. so somehow, mainieri has dumbed down the expectations.
LSU has been consistently a top 5-10 type program under Mainieri
quote:says someone with low standards
nor should he

quote:How much have you invested in LSU baseball over the last 3 years? (Not that you would tell the truth....)
people are ok with investing more than anyone else, ALOT more
Posted on 3/28/17 at 5:49 pm to geauxtigers33
quote:so this rambling somehow excuses mainieri?
He isn't coming to LSU. One he won a NC at Virginia so they will never run him out of town like the people here would try and do for a guy striking out and two LSU would have to fire his friend/mentor in CPM to get him. So you can name one coach that isn't going to ever coach here that has a better record in the CWS but still the same amount of championships.

quote:you're not too bright are you? have you ever heard of budget or resources or investment? look up how much cc spends on baseball and compare it to elite p5 programs
Oh the guy that's been at Coastal for 20 years and made it to a super regional 3 times and CWS once which was last year? Ok sounds like a great hire

After reading the numerous posts you just dropped like a deuce, I actually hate you

it's about being competitive in omaha,

Spot on, Bubba! My thoughts for several years. Especially about the team being undersized.

I call this as total bullshite. You either play to beat Tulane or you don't play them. The new generation does not understand. You never accept loosing to Tulane. Play them in a 3 game weekend series...our best against there best. It really sucks to us older guys when we loose to Tulane.
