We have multiple guys that could start.

With 4 guys that actually will start including Midweek… we still won’t need to extend anyone unless coaches want to. Guys will be fresh at the end of the year.

Agreed. If we can stay healthy and keep the depth we will be looking at making another serious run.

I would hope so, considering we will need 4-5 guys to start games each week...

But would you like to go into more detail about some of the guys instead of just making a very broad blanket statement?

This is what concerns me. LSU lost a lot of offense.
Jared Jones needs to be able to hit breaking balls consistently to be a force.

I think there will be some growing pains early in the season for the offense and hopefully will gel to make a run. The pitching should keep LSU in games until the offense comes around.

Bear Jones and Paxton Kling figuring out SEC pitching will be the key to this year. They have all the tools and if they can get it going, this year will be great.

I think this is going to be a team that frustrates the fans who tend to be apoplectic after each loss. There is a lot of talent. But a lot of unproven talent. It's probably going to take a few months for Johnson to start really figuring out who are his guys.

Need that clutch guy to emerge. Beliso had a ton of big hits in big games for us last year. You couldn’t pitch around last year’s team, which is what made it special. Can’t have situations where a pitcher is allowed to escape multiple innings by simply policing around 2-3 hitters.

That’s the key to me with hitting, No opponent had the opportunity to pitch around 1 or 2 batters to get out of a jam. This year is a mystery with us but the potential is there but as always potential is only potential. No room for slumps from any of our hitters.

I really like Kade Anderson. I could mention so many guys, but I don't think people mention him enough. Kade Woods and Fidel Ulloa are 2 other rarely mentioned arms that could sneak up on people.

The good news is that they're facing one of if not the best pitching staff in the nation every scrimmage before the seasons even started.

Will only be better for it come SEC and postseason play.

There’s not a lot of room for “growing pains” with the SEC schedule LSU has this year. BRUTAL!!!

Sat next to DJ at Coaches Committee last week. Good kid. Told me 97 was the fastest recorded pitch he has ever thrown. Has only done that 1x.

His upper range is usually 94-95, although he was down a few ticks this past week.

Has a Jay Johnson coached team ever not hit?

Coleman's been outstanding. So has Herring. I was just mentioning some of the newer guys that people may not be as familiar with and may not jump out when reading stats.

Agree, but that's what I'm saying. Facing our staff now should shorten those growing pains considerably. By the time we start facing other good staffs we will have seen just as good if not better pitching from our own team.

If you need to practice hitting the bender, Hurd and Guidry are good people to go up against...
