so we shouldn't expect to be good now.

Serious question: do you realize what kind of program LSU is?

Yep. Because if we lose, we'll likely suck really bad. No coach will want to come to a program that wasn't good when he was a kid.

We should be thrilled to have a winning season every year. That didn't happen in the past.

What? Mac may have had his shortcomings and he definitely had the Bear as his Achilles Heel, but he only had like one losing season in 20 years.

no coach will come if a winning coach was fired!

signed,

Mark Richt (replaced a winner in Donnan)
Urban Meyer (replaced a winner in zook)
Jim Tressel (replaced a winner in Cooper)
Nick Saban replaced a 26-23 mike shula which is a winning record last i checked)

Jimbo Fisher replaced a winner in bowden

and on and on and on

I once heard a fan in the Superdome say this after his high school won the state title with a perfect 15-0 record, "Yeah, we won another title and all but we could have beaten some of the teams we did by larger margins."
Some teams have nothing else to play for on their schedule. Even after going 15-0 they ask themselves "What can we do to be better?" In the end, its about being the best you can be, nothing else.

But go ahead and look at games like Kent State and Furman and say "a win is a win" if that makes you happy.

Nice to see someone has a brain!!!!

I could expound on it, but the sunshine pumpers will never see the expectations to perform and the correlation when you are one of the top 5 highest paid in your profession.

Mac didn't even make 6 figures until his last couple of years.

Holy shite. For one thing, Miles isn't some barely-over .500 coach like Zook and Shula, he's ahead of Richt, even with/maybe slightly ahead of Tressel and Meyer. Only Saban is clearly better, and that's if you only look at Saban at Bama.

What you suggest is more along the lines of what happened at Nebraska; forcing Solich out because he wasn't keeping pace with fans' expectations. We saw what happened there.

Try to consider the rationale Miles had in refusing to consider the Michigan job in '07:
he's got something good going on here (LSU) now, he's not gonna make a jump to another program that isn't realistically any higher than where he is now. Particularly when the administration at the other place went full retard and tore down something that was already successful, simply because they couldn't handle their rival's (Ohio St) success.

You might find a lot of your wishlist in Miles replacements share that same mindset.

I think for the majority of us (season ticket holders or not) it is not so much if we lose a game as underdog it is more that we expect for our big $ and highly paid leader a team that is not sometimes in lackadaisical mode and mental lapses (penalties, questionable play selection) ie. OM, Furman, Clemson, Bama 12, 2nd half Bama 13 (I was there btw),01/09/12, etc. Yes, I go way back to Coach Mac days and even participated in HMP rally as a student although then was just for fun of it but this now comes with the territory of big time college FB!

What does that have to do with what Miles is being paid now and what should be expected of him?

In all reality all coaches are paid to win hardware, but when you are one of the top 5 highest paid in your profession you are EXPECTED to win hardware. And when expectations are not being met then something has got to change whether it is the pay or the person.

Said the exact same thing in a thread few months back.....9-3 or 8-4 and being competitive EVERY GAME ALL GAME is ok during rebuilding years with an occasional SEC/NC title thrown in every 3/4 years. But 10-3, 11-2....mediocre bowl...losing to hated (WEST) rivals, laying down in games, and always being the bridesmaid is agonizing for most folks and unacceptable for a coach commanding CLMs salary. If that expectation is unreasonable then fk it. It's the lay of the land since 07.
I realize the bar has been set incredibly high and I also realize that if Bama wasnt in the midst of this insane frickin run, CLMs shortcomings would be easier to stomach....but unfortunately this is the reality.
I also realize that losses are part of the game and I don't mind losing to a better team when we play hard and simply get beat....not give it away.
Way toooooooo many hinky losses lately have undermined Les's credibility with a large segment of the fan base.
Nothing short of another NC is going to restore the faith...and even then he will still have his detractors.
CLM now finds himself in a no-win situation.
