LSU offered Jimbo Fisher

I find it hilarious that there are people here who would buy into Fisher being the only HC LSU would approach if they wanted Miles gone or that "time was running out" when the football regular season wasn't even over.

Some need to make up their mind as to which it is...are their a number of excellent HCs out their who be an improvement over Miles or is Jimbo the only one.

It's smarter to make that move before looking at coaching hires. We need the right guy in that spot first. Most of us would rather they decision not be in Alleva's hands, whenever it comes.

There is a case to be made that Jimbo is the only one they felt they could sell as an adequate replacement. Football fans know Herman, Fedora, etc, but the rank and file in the stadium don't.

There are a lot of rumors out there. I have no "sources" but the only thing that makes sense is that some very important boosters wanted Jimbo Fisher if he was available but did not want to take the risk of a full-blown coaching search. Some idiot (reportedly Alleva) leaked this to Rabalais, which is stupid if you want to keep it on the down low while you gauge interest from Fisher's camp so that you can avoid the very shite show that we witnessed the last few weeks.

Fisher would have been an upgrade; anyone else would have been a roll of the dice. Hell, love Les or hate him, if he wins the bowl game this team will have a .750 winning percentage again this year. I don't see too many other coaches out there who could boast that. Yes, HOW they lose those games and how we see the same bull-headed mistakes and stubbornness when it comes to the offense is frustrating, but correct those two things and LSU will be in the Playoffs next year. I don't believe we could have said that about any other coach out there that is available.

If that's true and I don't think it is but if it is, what are you saying bout how good Miles has done here and why should LSU want him gone?

That rank and file will have little to say bout who is the next coach or when there will be a next coach. So, that doesn't fly. imo

Seems like public perception was the final decision maker in this matter. In the absence of true leadership the loudest and strongest voices often fill the void. Problem is those voices are very fickle and many will jump back on the Miles is inept bandwagon soon enough- fans and media alike.

Our administrations desire to not do a full-blown coaching search- which is risky, no doubt- coupled with the media and fan base rushing to rescue Miles honor and respect- caused a total 360 from the intended direction it would seem.

The only way to replace a coach of Miles tenure, level of achievements, and respect is to rip the bandaid off. The leadership has to step up and fire him with no hesitation. After the OM debacle would have been the proper time. There would have been kickback and emotions but he would have gotten his proper send off unlike last nights weird awkward, we'll see you later-we guess, good-bye.

Then go about a proper coaching search- sappy emotions and #1 recruiting classes can't sway you.

But the moment is gone. Likely forever for Aleva. What? He's gonna do that again next year? The debits to his "leadership account" now are so full he'll likely never accumulate enough "credits" to do something that big again.
