He should absolutely be able to come back to school.

How they don't have protection for a kid like this is beyond me. He is legit fricked.

I know it would be complicated but I wish they'd change it.

They have a plan in place, the NFL advised him not to do it, he did it anyway. Why should the league or school have to jump through hoops when the kid made the wrong decision?

Did he not sign with an agent?

He can go back to school. He just can't play football. LSU has a good engineering program. Maybe he can do that.

That would be way to complicated not to mention the kid would miss all of spring practice.

He had some protection. It's called the draft grade. He chose to ignore it and take his chances

Nope. He was advised by scouts not to. Did it anyway. Tough shite.

He should've known that he would be a low pick in the draft. Nobody's fault but his own. He wanted to leave the program to go the NFL, that was HIS choice. Not hard to see that he couldn't catch a cold in the winter, wasn't going to be a high draft pick.

I agree with you. The system, as it stands, is designed by the two leagues to protect their teams.

Baseball has a different system in place.

He'll be picked up somewhere. But I don't really think they should change anything.

If he didn't graduate already, he can come back and finish, but he won't play.

Those are not the end all.

Look, he made a mistake leaving. This is apparent.

But forgoing eligibility when he wasn't even picked? I don't get it.

Clearly it can be done because look at Major League Baseball.

I think i heard saban speak on this a while back as well. If you are undrafted he stated you should be allowed back. This opens a can of worms though if a person gets drafted in the 6th round and is not happy with being drafted with team then tries to get out of signing and tries to go back to school.

And there's that whole thing about missing an entire semester of course work.

It would be bullshite to allow these guys back imo. Think about the guys that get suspended for academics? So this guy takes zero hours, and is allowed back. I only took 9 and had to sit out a semester.

Because if you do this everyone would declare as soon as they are eligible, and then the school would go through another national signing day, and then 75% of the players who declared 4 months before would want back on the roster, and their spots would be filled with the new signing class.

There needs to be repercussions for choosing to go pro and going through a whole process. Coaches recruit their spots when they go pro.

Everyone would just declare if there were no repercussions for not being drafted

So, what you're saying is, a kid should be able to make the biggest decision of his life--to enter the NFL draft--and after he doesn't get drafted, he should be given a second chance?

Yeah, that should go over well.

"Let me see if a pro team wants me, and if not, I'll come back and play for you."

Apparently, somewhere along the way, his draft grade and his performance in pro days and the combinr didn't line up. He should have known this. But, he got a hot head and thought he was better than he was, and now he will pay for it.

Part of me feels for the kid, but damn it, you have to have more sense than that.

And the people that gave him a 3rd round draft grade should do better. Sheesh. Talk about a flub.

Good point! this would make recruiting and early enrolling for future player crazy! I guess these kids should just get more opinions on their draft status before pulling trigger if still have eligibility left.
