to be fair ... Wisconsin played a TERRIBLE schedule. I don't say that lightly.. I mean truly terrible. The Big10 was a dumpster fire on offense this season.

I'll get flamed because this board can't handle anything negative, but this poster is correct. You've got to consider the schedule Wisconsin played before getting too excited over their defense.

Now Aranda seems like a great hire and I'm very excited, but let's just take a breath and see what he can do against our competition, because the SEC is a hell of a lot tougher than the Big Ten.

But they didn't do that much worse than us We gave up 30 points. They gave up 35 We gave up 434 yards. They gave up 502

Bama also had like 11 penalties for 120yds against Wisconsin. That game could have easily been 56-17.

Good God!

Is there nothing in this world that will cure the fooking catastrophe syndrome in you snowflakes?
Is there no way any of you losers can ever see a positive outcome?
What miserable lives all you must lead.
Nothing but doom and gloom.
Sad, sad, sad.

He also had top notch defenses at Hawaii and Utah State. Every stop in his career he has had excellent defenses.

He will step up a level with LSU, but he will also have better players to work with.

The guy can coach. Not concerned in the slightest.

Well you can also add that Wisky's QB had a 11/11 TD/INT ratio and run game averaged 3.8 ypc. Their D was helped out by their O even less than our D was by our offense.

Well the SEC wasn't stellar on offense this year either fwiw. Off the top of my head:

SC was so bad its coach quit
Arky got better but lost to Toledo and TT
Vandy was awful
Ky wasn't good
Tenn was decent on offense I guess
Florida had no QB
TAM was awful
AU was awful
UGA was alright but struggled passing
Ole Miss and Bama were the only two legit good offenses in the SEC I think. Sure the Wisc schedule was bad but the discrepancies in the offenses of the two conferences probably isn't the gulf some imagine. The SEC has had a dearth of QBs lately.

Don't worry it will all equal out. Aranda did great with what he had to work with at Wisky against below average offence and he will do great with a defense full of freak athletes against sec offenses

This wasn't his first year having a great statistical year at Wisky. So, the schedule thing kind of goes out the window.

Sometimes a good defense is just a good defense no matter where they play.

Not to dampen the expectations, because I think Aranda will do a great job, but his defense wasn't playing against 4 and 5 star offensive guys every week either.

So with comparable level talent that's what he was able to do to other offenses. So with comparable talent it's not out of the realm to say he can do the same to 4 and 5 star offenses with 4 and 5 star defense. Will it happen? Maybe, maybe not. But if a 2 and 3 star talent was destroying 2 and 3 star talent, then maybe he can do the same with 4 and 5 star talent to 4 and 5 star talent.

Tired Defensive players are hard to win with.

Les offense has to contribute.

The exact point of my earlier post: he did a great job coaching mediocre talent against mediocre teams.
Can it translate to the SEC: probably so. The concern is the expectations are very high and any little hiccup will have our fans jumping all over this dude.

Well Bama hung 30 on our 4/5 star talent and 35 on wiskys nobody talent, looks like he should do well here.

A noble endeavor.
Quixotic at times but noble none the less.
