LSU was in the NC game in Jan. of last yr, and just won 10 games. Everyone is disappointed, but your doom and gloom really isn't warranted. Hardly a program "in decline." Go take a long walk and smell the roses.

You're a dummy if you think a program can remain successful if the fanbase stops supporting them. Who do you think is paying for the coaches and facilities?

Wanting to see the team NOT make a fool of themselves on a national stage for the second year in a row doesn't make you a bad fan, but blindly supporting decisions that ultimately hurt the program definitely makes you a bad fan.

I hope mike Detillier is right about this being the best signing class coming up in 2013.

It doesn't matter if they are still being coached by the same man in the same manner. We could have the most talented offensive athletes in the world but they will always take the field with a governor around their necks as long as CLM is in charge.

No other top SEC teams struggled with Auburn or Arkansas the way we did. Sure, teams have letdown games every now and then, even the best, but LSU continually plays down to their opponent. Nearly every damn time. I'm tired of it. I should be able to turn off a game against Towson at half-time and be comfortable that we are going to win it. And I NEVER feel that way watching LSU play.

You have a very short memory. Last year we blew out both Auburn and Arkansas, along with everyone else on our schedule except for Bama, and we did beat them at their place. The team played well every week and was as consistent as any LSU team in history. Same coaches, by the way.

You are perfectly correct about the team's struggles this year, but again, when you have a new starter at QB and an offensive line that is made up of spare parts, you're going to struggle....period. NO coach can replace three starting linemen in about two weeks and magically make all the pieces work perfectly, especially with an inexperienced QB and relatively inexperienced receivers. And that's not even considering the freshmen we were starting at LB and at CB. Yes, the machine wheezed and groaned a lot of the time...but we still won almost all our games. To me, that's a sign of good coaching.

To be clear, I agree that the offense has been inconsistent, and that is a problem that needs to be addressed. But it's not the whole story, and given our success without a consistent offense, I would say Miles has done a good job of compensating for the program's weaknesses. But, yes, I wish we could get the offense hitting on all cylinders on a consistent basis. I hope we can put that final piece in place to go with our D and special teams.

As I think I made clear I view last year as a complete fluke for a lot of reasons. But I also don't particularly care what LSU did last year. If last year was the norm, and not the aberration then I'd credit it more but it wasn't typical. This year was typical. 2010 was typical.

Last year was a team with deep flaws on offense masked by the best defense LSU has ever fielded and likely will ever field. LSU did what it was supposed to last year and put the boot down on inferior teams, and I'd like to see that every year, but we're back to the norm this year and I'm sure next year will the same.

But Clemson was a FAR inferior team talent wise...

NO, no they were not.

Clemson has a lot of talent but they don't do nearly as much with it as they should (this sounds familiar). There's still no shame in losing to them, but the way LSU lost was pitiful. South Carolina took care of business against them with a backup QB and their best RB out, LSU sure should have been able to do so as well.

From watching the team this year, it seems the offense had a problem executing late in the games. The whole of the offense seem to get dysfunctional in the fourth quarter of most games. I do not know if they, as a whole, pressed too much or just got overwhelmed by circumstance. It is a heavy burden to know you Have to do plays as opposed to we are going to do some plays. Just a higher stress level. Do you think mentally the players did not handle the pressure well enough to make the plays they needed to keep drives going?

It takes a long time to build a program to where LSU is now but only takes a very short time for it to crumble. You sunshine "10 win" pumpers remember this little fact.

no they aren't, but most rantards think the SEC > AFC

Come on. Last night sucked, but 40-3 isn't the same as losing on the last play 25-24.

12-0, 12-1, 11-2, 9-3, 9-3, 7-6

vs

12-2, 8-5, 9-4, 1-2, 13-1, 10-3

This is not a program in decline, it is a team that ended a disappointing season, on a disappointing note a and an over reactionary bunch of babies for fans.

LSU is still an elite program.

but lacks elite head coaching, QB coaching, and offensive coordinator coaching. This is the failure that caused our loses against Alabama twice and Clemson the past two years.

they really aren't. they have had some great classes under Dabo.

If you look at the three classes they have been pretty decent.

The concern is losing the belief of your players. If players don't totally buy in to what you are coaching or promoting, uncertainty sets in and mental errors occur. The defense believes in Chief and it shows...The offense is inconsistent because they do not believe...We have another off season of Les getting players not to jump ship because he doesn't have the courage to provide them with the coaching and leadership they came to LSU to receive. It's time for Les to show is players he is serious by hiring a legitimate OC and get out the way

Indeed...that should buy Stud/Les...what...2-3 more years of mediocre offense?

10 wins....that should buy them 2/3 more...I mean after all...we are better than the Hallman years right??

100 offensive plays for Clemson....twice as many as LSU had...

that is something that LSU should do to Towson or North Texas...

100 plays....you really have no idea how bad that offense is.....
