Ok LSU beat UF in the swamp . Not that big of a deal because everyone knows UF has no offense. LSU beat Auburn with a great comback win But it was at home. Does LSu's season Hinge on this game? i say yes .I mean 6-2 or 5-3 going into bama. If LSU wins this game and still losses to bama then O can still have a chance to have a good season. lose this one then lose to bama and this team is right back where they were after the troy Loss.Every game will be important from here on but this Game will determine if Coach O was indeed right about turning the corner

This group think regurgitation from tRant is illogical; a win in the Swamp is a big deal.

We should win this game but Ole Miss will not be a pushover. With a solid win we will have momentum and a chance to play for a 9-3 season which would be a great success considering how things looked a few weeks ago. A respectable showing against Bama (24-14ish) would be the cherry on top.

A win in the swamp is always good, yes.

But the win this year didn't mean anything more than one W as far as whether or not we are "on the right track" so to speak. That team is just too much of a mess for it to have any real value in determining where we are as a team. Imo

Same with this OM trash heap. A win is just maintaining credibility. A loss would be a massive failure.

I agree we should beat them but what team will show up? the 2nd half LSU team against auburn or the 1st half. If we get down by 14 to ole miss on the road can this team get it going? still alot of questions that need to be answered and this game will detemine that.

I know you're trying to be realistic and all and that's fine... but losing to bama by 10 is a 'cherry on top'? F that

For a couple of weeks, at least. Every game is a season.

All I want is for the team to come each week focused, and try their best. Let the chips fall where they may. I want to see them play with focus and energy. If they do that, we should win every game but bama

I sort of agree but for different reasons.

To me this game is absolutely critical for O as head coach.

We know he can have some success as an interim guy. And after State and Troy he was back almost in interim mode. Just trying to keep things together before the entire program fell apart.

Now he has won a couple big game in a row and is favored on the road in an SEC game.

Can he handle the recent success and win? Or is it the same old thing where he only gets the best out of the team when they have no further to fall into

It would go a long way in showing this team/program can handle success and play consistent football.

LSU was "supposed" to win the game vs. Miss. St. They played like they thought they would win the game by just "showing up and being LSU." MSU was motivated and played with passion. Same thing with Troy.

LSU was an underdog in the last two games. They were also "revenge" games from last season. It was easy to get motivated to play those games. Now can they play with the same passion against a team they are once again "supposed to beat?" It may answer the question:

Is this program going to be a consistent winner under Ogeron? OR

Is this program going to be one who can beat any opponent or lose to any opponent depending up how emotionally invested they are in a given game.

Apart from the gibberish found within the body of the OP's post, I wholeheartedly agree with the message conveyed in the title of this thread.

I logged in to upvote you. Lets see if this team can maintain some consistency or has formed an identity. I'm not ready to crown them yet, but if they do pull this one out by 10 or more I will feel more confident we can win out with the exception of Alabama.

Young folk are up and down Its up to the coaches to balance them and improve upon what they have been doing well.

I am really intrigued by the matchup, which I actually think works in our favor because of the Defensive backfield we have. They will score some points on the D, but they will give up some big plays to the D as well (Interceptions, Sacks etc). The question is have we formed enough of an identity on offense to put 30 points on the board. I think thats what we need to win.

The value of a win in the Swamp took a big hit when A&M went in there and won.

I happened to catch Saban's press conference on Tuesday. He was talking about the human condition and why we have upsets in college every single week.

He talked about how human nature is to survive, not to be the best version of yourself possible at all times. And it makes perfect sense when you look at what our team has gone through. When Orgeron's livelihood was being threatened is when we saw the best of him. He clawed his way back in these past two games as if his job depended on it.

Now things are hunky dory again. He has survived and gotten the fanbase back on his side. It's going to be difficult for him to create that type of environment he created when the walls were coming down on him, because that's not the situation anymore.

Orgeron says he didn't change a thing after Troy but then he goes on and cites things that he did differently that week with the player meetings and everything he organized. Those are things he's has to do every week to reproduce the same results. He has to find a way to recreate the urgency every week. Otherwise we'll continue to get inconsistent results.

If we beat OM convincingly (and we should as a road favorite) then that'll go a long way in Orgeron proving he's got this team headed in the right direction. But he's got to prove things every week. I know people think it's unfair that this guy has to prove himself every week but he doesn't have a lot of sustained success to point to.

LSU is 4 - 4 in the Swamp under Saban and Miles, which is the most successful period in school history. Don't even look back at the 90's.

That win in the Swamp was a big deal. LSU rarely wins there, relatively speaking.

Rebs are giving up 450 total yds a game and 37 pts a games. If we don't run over them, we gonna have serious problems on the road in any game. imo
