Going into ARKANSAS in 2010 hard to believe we were 10-1!!!

At that point our only loss was to AUBURN by only 7 points. An AUBURN team that had HEISMAN Scam Newton running wild over the whole country and would soon be raising a BCS NATIONAL TITLE. We also beat Bama that year. The great Deangelo Peterson Tight End Reverse Call. We had such a stout defense that year. DRAKE NEVIS up front creating constant Havoc. Kelvin Sheppard with over 100 tackles in the MLB and Patrick Peterson Ball hawking in the secondary. The freshmen class I believe had REID, MATHIEU and SIMON. Mingo and Montgomery were up and coming sophomores.

Arkansas was good that year. I think they went on to play OHIO STATE in the Sugar Bowl. Still I think we should have beat them that year. That was a very tough loss. Who knows what could have been if we win that game and are 11-1 with only loss to Auburn. We would go on to destroy Texas AM in the Cotton Bowl. Maybe we were looking ahead that game when we played Arkansas. I don't remember much of that game honestly. Just remember it being a game I thought we should have won and were the better team. Goes to show you gotta be prepared to get ARKANSAS's best shot. This game this weekend is HUGE. Hoping Coach Kelly has this LSU squad ready to take care of business and have no letdown.

Agree. I hope we can avoid the letdown and play up to our potential.

I gotta be honest, I didn’t see a 10-1 start coming after that opening UNC game.

Karnell Hatcher almost singlehandedly cost us that Ark game. When he collided with the other DB on that crossing route their WR Cobi Hamilton ran, it sounded like a 30.06 went off. If that doesn't happen, the entire game is different. I knew it was over on that play.

Les, and Bobby Petrino won’t be on the sidelines this year.

For those that don’t know, we gave up something like an 80 yard td on the last play of the first half when our defensive backs ran into each other instead of the receiver catching the pass.

I watched that game at the Hard Rock in Universal Studios. I was absolutely confident we would win.

We should have played OSU in the Sugarbowl. What a travesty.

He was directly responsible for not 1, but 2 80+ yard touchdown passes in the 2nd quarter alone. One on a 3rd and 9 where he just totally whiffed on a hit on the sideline. And then the one on the last play of the first half.

Now that's got me thinking about 2010 2011, and 2012. Three good years with great moments that ultimately ended up just short of greatness.

Such a frustrating game with JJ and the usual lethargic passing offense.

It was also the age of old school SEC offenses for the most part and Les' teams were built for rushing - almost always worked expect against Bama and Chavis usually had stout defenses. We had vastly better talent across the board to steamroll other teams but notoriously played down to the level of competition.

That was the game where on 2 big plays for Arkansas Karnell Hatcher TKO's his own man and the Receiver runs free. One right before half was a back breaker!

Frankly this season does not seem like any of the past 15 years.

We are now playing a well coached game and not resorting to tomfoolery or trick plays. As long as the kids execute at the level they have been at, sky is the limit. Only way they are losing is if there is a talent gap between the teams and I don't see that with this Hogs team!

I thought this season would be a lot like 2000. New HC coming off consecutive poor seasons that got the previous coach fired. The fan expectations for the season wouldn't be high, which would lead to a pretty fun environment because there would be excitement for every game rather than the assumption LSU was better than 90% of the SEC and was "supposed" to win every game but one or two. The team would probably have a bad days...but also fun games where they competed with and/or beat better opponents. That season LSU lost an ugly game to UAB. Then, they upset No. 11 Tennessee in an OT thriller before getting blasted by Florida. LSU improved in the second half of the season, with the best game being a OT win vs. No. 13 Mississippi St. in an underrated fun night in Tiger Stadium.

As it turns out, this season is shaping up to be more like 2001. LSU was up and down the first 7 games, including a ugly loss to a decent, but not great Ole Miss team. The next week the offense came to life at Alabama and continued to roll the rest of the season to an unexpected SEC West title and the first appearance in the SECCG. An appearance against No. 2 Tennessee who simply needed to beat 3 loss LSU to reach the BCSCG. We all know what happened and LSU threw the BCS into chaos.

21 years later (God it doesn't seem that long ago!) history may be repeating itself

The difference between 2010 and 2022 is that Arkansas was actually good in 2010. Those were some of Arkansas’s better football seasons.
