It's not whether you win or lose. It's how you play the game. And we played the game like a bunch of retarded monkeys were calling the shots.

Let me guess. If we spread the field in one back sets we would have won since they can't stack the box or something.

No. But when you keep getting 1ypc up the middle you don't keep trying to do the same thing and keep punting until you are in a deep arse hole. I have absolutely no problem pounding the ball, when we can. I would like our coaching staff to be able to recognize what even our dumbass drunk fans can, that it is harder to have positive plays when everyone in the stadium and watching TV knows where the fricking ball is going.

And is also like our coaches to bench Welker. If no one can pass him on the depth chart, we need open tryouts.

Great post. I just learned that our offense doesn't understand the playbook 4 weeks into the season. Are you sure Les understands the playbook?

What makes you think they don't? It cracks me up that fans think they have this ability to see a problem the team is having and coaches don't. How delusional are you?

Barely. I am pretty depressed about this season, actually.

It isn't because we lost the game or because we have bad QB play. It is because the line play on both sides is so bad. I am not used to that from LSU and I feel like it really limits what we can do and how effective we can be.

I am all for smash mouth football when it works. When it doesn't, there is nothing worse.

They played liked shite against MSU and almost won it. 8-4 is the least this team will finish.

1st and goal, run 4 straight times...three up the middle. Enough said
Although I admit I want to see the offense open up more, if you can't punch it in that situation, you almost don't deserve to win. At a minimum, if you need to resort to play action or some other trickery, you're admitting to the other team that they're stronger than you. Although I agree that any points would have been much better there, I also understand the decision/gamble. If we had been able to punch it in, It would have been a huge boost for us, as much as a successful fake punt. Unfortunately, it failed.

Part of this malaise is that it is State. Many LSU fans cannot remember the last time they beat us at home. Unfortunately I can, I was at the game. Also the way they beat us was disturbing. The game easily could have been 41-16 or worse. We gave them a finish, but not many positives came to light last Saturday.

You have just wrapped up his whole line of thinking (and play calling). Only Les think's it is "trickery" to 'resort to play action" to avoid looking weaker than the other team. Screw getting points, we just can't look weaker than our "quality opponent". It is this approach that gets us in huge holes and requires mad-hatter play calling later in the game.

I agree with everything in your post. LSU can not hope to keep replacing the waves of good football players that leave early every year and expect to keep up the torrid pace set over the last decade by Miles and company. It doesn't matter how good he recruits, which is exceptional, Miles' teams will have growing pains when that many first and second year players are key contributors. There are kids that played in spread offenses in high school that now have to learn an offense that is pro-style with different reads and options off those read. Add in the fact that our offensive line went to a zone blocking scheme and there is a learning curve to expect.

The biggest worry so far this year to me is the defensive line play that was really exposed when it had to go against a good SEC offensive line. This is the area I feel must improve quickly for LSU to finsih the year strong.

I fully expected before the season that LSU would have 3 to 4 losses due to the circumstances we were facing with our youth and inexperience. Nothing I've seen so far this season dissuades me from that. But an 8 or 9 win rebuilding season will not be the end of the world, it will just seem like it to most ranters.

The Rant is for venting your frustrations as well as the entertainment value of watching others meltdown and show the ignorance publicly.

I agree with Kathy Tiger!!! Before the season I said 8&4, but I would not be surprised if we ended up 7&5.
