Thirty Years Ago Today
I was in Tiger Band that year. That Bowl was awesome compared to the Liberty bowl the year before. Great trip, lots of fun going to Disney etc.
79 Tangerine Bowl was definitely the BEST of all the Tiger Band trips. Loved doing the parade through Disney World. Remember some of the floats blocking Rouse's view while he was directing at halftime and the look on his face?(I remember talking to newly hired WWL sportscaster Jim Henderson at halftime as we were waiting to go on)
The 78 Liberty Bowl was too cold, but the practice with the Missouri Band was fun. Best part of the trip.
BTW, who are you NAVY?........

I too was a freshman that year, one of the best 6-5 teams that ive ever been around. Went to every game that year. Losses to then #1 USC, i think 17 to 12 and later on a cold and rainy night 3 to 0 to Bama. Also losses to pretty good GA.team and Fla State and finally a Liberty bowl bound Tulane led by Roch Hontas who by the way lost to Penn State in the Liberty Bowl that year. What a year, I was at the Tangerine Bowl and rean into the late Goober Morse who used to have the Superfan Show which came on on Thursday nights in Baton Rouge. The Tangerine Bowl was Great. I believe we knocke Jay Venuto , Wake's QB out of the game and I remember us scoring so much that I believe they actually ran out of fireworks to shoot after every Score. Geaux Tigers and You were one of the Best Cholly Mac and Goober Morse. God Rest
