Yes but if we get beat in a close game it won't be the end of the world. Miss St is a better team right now. That is a fact. I believe we have more talent but they have been in the Leach system for 3 years and know each other a lot better than we do. Defense will win this game. I have confidence the offense can do what's needed. If the defense can keep it in front of them and don't give up the big play then we have a chance. We always have a chance to win at home. But I better not see any ridiculous calls for kelly to be fired by the nut jobs if we lose a close one. If there is still improvement then it will just make us better for the next game. We are not the better team yet. But that could change by Sat night. We shall see.

If Emery can become the explosive piece in the running game

Kelly has already said in so many ways that Emerey is not going to be that go-to lead back people are hyping him up to be. "He'll play a role in what we do" is about as close as you're going to get to him saying "don't get your hopes up."

But fans just gloss over that. He's literally telling you the hype is unwarranted.

Yes, but if we look like we did against FSU & drop this game to Miss St…. We could be looking at a 6 or 7 win season. Huge swing game.

Could be??

I hate to break it to you but if we lose this game we likely are likely a 5 win team at best and aren’t going bowling.

This game and Auburn are absolutely must wins to get to 6 or 7.

Far too many people are overlooking the sheer numbers we are missing to go up against SEC competition. We are a program patched together with freshmen and transfers by a completely new coaching staff right now.

With this year’s experience and if Kelly is able to fight off attrition to give us some continuity, we should be back in competition with another recruiting class next year, but we are absolutely a bottom tier roster right now based on numbers and time in the program.

Unfortunately Leach and MSU has that continuity we are lacking right now, and has dialed up 1000 passing yards and 8 TDs passing in his two games against us. I don’t see why that will be much different this year, especially without Maason.

Which means we’ll have to keep up in a shootout, and with our work in progress OL going against their veteran front seven once again Daniels will have to carry this team on his back the way he did against FSU to have a chance.

Luckily the game is at home but I just don’t think the odds are much better than a coin flip that we are able to get the win here.

That’s not at all what he said or meant.

Kelly said to temper expectations for Emery against MSU not for his season or career. Emery hasn’t played competitively in over a year so nobody should expect him to come out & run wild against a quality SEC team with a stout defense.

If thats what you got from his press conf the other day then you’ve completely bungled the message he intended to convey.

Well below average on more than one level.
It's called sarcasm. You prolly got that but feigned ignorance to lead into a nice try at deflecting from your original statement by changing my message.
In fact, every time CBK has been asked this week he's said that Emery won't carry the heaviest load - because he's been off so long - but is expected to contribute.
Showing you are unaware of something that is common knowledge in all Sports - being in "game shape" after a layoff - is a bad look on a sports board. Showing you will manipulate another's statements for your own purposes is a bad look anywhere.

Emery has the ability to break of huge chunks and make people miss.

He hasn’t had that type of burst in a long time. He put on weight to try and be an every down back and it slowed him down. Realistically, he and Goodwin will give you about the same. Maybe a hair more top end speed.

Will see how good Debrock is. We have to manage the clock and control the ball.

This is a big game for both teams. When was the last big game Mike Leach won?
