9 wins is where we should be every year. Never lower than 9. I think we can get to 10 this year.

I expect at least 10 wins, but would consider 8 wins a good first season for Kelly.

The expectation for any LSU coach should always be the same, 10 wins and title contention. Just like Les Miles said when he thought he was fired to Sumerlain after Aggie game, “They have high expectations here and demand excellence and I am glad they do. “

8-4 on high end

This is not Madden plug n play football

New HC and coaching staff
Yet another playbook to learn, taught by new coordinators
New positions coaches for most
New QB
Etc.
Meanwhile, other SEC-W foes have edge on NIL

8 wins with a surprise one painting the future bright

I reasonably believe that at least 40% in here will be calling for his dismissal at some point this season.

Les Miles wasn’t in his first year coming off of two straight .500 seasons.

Since Saban’s arrival at LSU, we’ve had more seasons with <10 wins than we have had with >10 wins. And that’s including bowl games. People have a distorted view of what an “average” season has been over the past 20 years.

It’s a goal, sure. A reasonable expectation in year one? I don’t know about that.

Also, how do you define “title contention”?

I know a lot is made about the lack of elite DBs this season, but last year during the best defensive run at the latter half of the season LSU did not have Ricks or Stingley on the field and the DC was a first time play caller.

House is going to get the best out of the players we have and we are stronger along the defensive front. I think the biggest question on the D is who steps up at the LB spots and how quickly they acclimate.

It is difficult to determine what to expect because we have a low number of returning starters, but a lot of experienced talent via transfer. Throw in a new staff and it comes down to how fast these guys get synched. Get through the first 4 games without any slip ups and/or bad injuries and we will be in good shape headed into the first big test @Auburn.

I have a hard time believing that we are behind Florida and Auburn. Auburn is a dumpster fire, and I think we have a better hire in Kelly, and a better roster than Florida. Arky, A&M, and Ole Miss feel like our most difficult winnable games. I’m going to say 9-3 with losses to OM, Bama, and TN or A&M. I don’t think Arky will be as good this year. State is also going to be sneaky.

10-2 is not all that great anymore. The people of this state give so much attention and money to LSU football, that we sacrifice every other quality of life metric on the chart so that we rank dead last in the country in terms of quality of living.
11-1 should be the floor. If a coach can’t hit 11-1 every year he should be canned. We pay these yankees and midwesterners, hell even shrimp boat captains MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars to come down here and coach.
I’ll say 11-1 since Saban is at Bama, but when lil napoleon leaves, 12-0 should be the expectation. I don’t care about who inherited what.

LSU only has three guaranteed wins on their schedule - Southern, Mew Mexico, and UAB. That's not a lot for a team some here expect to win 9-10 games.

I think the season's success hinges on playing well at "home" (I include FSU here). If the season is considered a success, you have to go 3-1 against FSU, State, Tenn, and Ole Miss. All four are more than capable of beating LSU, which might make 3-1 ambitious.

That would allow you to go 2-2, far from a given, on the road (Auburn, Florida, Arky, and A&M), take a beating from Bama, and finish up with eight wins.

i've been saying the over/under on wins is 8.5. not unrealistic to hope for 9 wins but anything above that will require a great deal of luck - that we find our qb early and he stays healthy, and the offensive line gels very fast. and the biggest of all - we don't get bit hard by the injury bug.
