ESPN’s FPI currently lists LSU’s preseason win total at 7.7. Vegas is slightly lower at 7 flat.

Entering the fall, LSU has talent but little depth. The Tigers aren’t quite at 85 scholarship players but they have multiple future 1st Rounders at as many as four or five positions. It’s a roster that exists in extremes.

The LSU Tigers should feature one of the best defensive lines in the nation, yet one of the SEC’s worst OLs (38 sacks allowed last season, SEC-worst 3.2 yards per carry). They have no tight ends but are otherwise stacked with playmakers (see: potential top SEC wideout Kayshon Boutte). DBU could be TPU — with as many as five additions from the transfer portal slated to start in the secondary.

The options at quarterback include a sixth-year senior who’s battled a litany of injuries (Myles Brennan), a former dual-threat blue-chipper who has regressed the last two years (Jayden Daniels) and a pair of promising but green underclassmen (Garrett Nussmeier and 5-star freshman Walker Howard).

I have faith in BK.

9 regular season wins, plus a bowl win.

10 wins total.

8-4 before the bowl is a solid year considering the roster he inherited

9-3 would be ahead of schedule

If he manages 10-2, the SEC is on notice.

This...not unreasonable, but aggressive enough.

NY6 Bowl and a 10 win season would be amazing. I think 8-4 with a bowl win sounds more likely but I like option 1 a lot better. That being said though both options are good in season 1 and I would be more than happy with either. If he cannot win more than 7 games in his first season we are in trouble.

I agree. Lame duck Ed won 6 without even trying.
Just replacing him with BK (and new staff) should net 2 more wins.

$1500 here. Hard to believe we’ll go under 3 years in a row. If so program is dead.

10 wins, without a doubt. We have one of the top five QB rooms in the entire country.

Reasonable expectations or Rant's expectations? Two totally different standards.

I think a 7 win season, is a great job. Florida State and Mississippi State will be very difficult this year.

Losses to Florida state and Mississippi state would more likely mean a 5-6 win season. Alabama, @A&M, @Florida, Tennessee, @Arkansas, Ole Miss, and @Auburn are all more difficult games. I’m more inclined to believe we go 3-4 in the 7 I listed (loss to bama and 3-3 in the others which I believe are all close to tossups) and win the rest to finish 8-4

Unless our OL makes a huge leap forward I think our ceiling is 8 or 9 wins (10 w a bowl).

If it's that bad again 7-5 (or even 6-6) is very possible.

I think we finish the season with a bowl win. 8-5 with losses to bama, Arky, A&M, Florida, and tennesse.
I think we roll into the Tennessee week undefeated. The rant will achieve high level melts for Tennessee and Florida games.
We will be more optimistic for next season than we will be coming into this one.

The roster isn't that bad even for a contender hopeful. But it's unproven even though some transfers were starters. This expectations guess is a good one.
