The underlying reason is that we are now a society with a short attention span.

And instant gratification. Agreed.

Combine that with the fact that we are spoiled and just a little bit entitled due to recent success, and there you have it. It probably doesn't help that BR rolls the sidewalks up at 10 o'clock or else we'll all turn into a giant pumpkin, but then it's always been that way, so I'd say it has more to do with what you suggested.

When we play bama, A&M, Ole Miss, UF, insert good sec team our stands remain as full as any other team. The real reasons for the exodus in the 2nd half are...

1. EVERY game is on TV
2. Games used to be 3hrs now they are 4
3. Traffic. No road improvements since the 80's when TS sat 80k instead of 100k

People have ALWAYS left early for the rent a wins and bad conference games. I don't think that will ever change.

If the stands ever empty vs Bama, Auburn, A&M, UF, Ole Miss then we have a problem.

This only substantiates my case.

So what if the game is on TV? Why do you have to go home or a bar to watch the second half?

So what if the game lasts an additional hour? Sit there and enjoy the Tigers playing in Tiger Stadium.

So what if you have to sit in traffic? All you are going to do is sit in your recliner at home anyway. Listen to the post game show while in traffic. There are highlights, interviews, and discussions about the game.

It all goes back to short attention spans and the desire to be in a hurry when when there is not a need to be in a hurry. We are a society of multi-taskers that can't seem to finish things that we start.

I also think night games make people leave early...2:30 games we have more fans in the stands at end of game. Of course we are usually playing a good opponent at 2:30

Its a multitude of factors. LSU started limiting the number of tailgaters 7-8 years ago with trailer fees, parking on Nicholson, size of tents, etc..

That did reduce some tailgaters then you factor in the chaotic traffic mess after games and its enough for fans to reduce their tailgating time and reduce their time inside the stadium. Traffic wasn't nearly this bad 7-8 years ago and more fans stayed to the end of the game then. LSU simply thinks they know everything for traffic management and they end up micromanaging it so much that its a cluster. There is little to no coordination for the parking lots and how to get to the parking lots. One cop will say go this way, another one will say go this way and sure enough you cant even get there.

Simple traffic flow pattern, electronic signs indicating number of parking spots left in certain lots, etc..

Streets have expanded, even though the stadium holds more people now fewer people are attending, and have a traffic problem 10 times worse than what it was several years ago.

raffic has always been an issue at LSU games. Always. It's a lame excuse. And what's the excuse for the student section? Don't give me traffic.

This is correct. Traffic is bad anywhere you go. Its not beer not being sold (At the price it will cost? No thanks)

For me it is a 4 hour game. After tailgating all day I am wearing down. At least I rest after the game until traffic eases. They need to keep games to the 3 hrs allowed for TV. At most 3.5 hrs.

against SM a player was injured and he was getting off the field but the refs still took an injury TO. Come back form commercial and LSU kicks a FG...then another commercial. They added 2-3 minutes just for that.

They've changed the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium. It sucks arse now.

Between all the timeouts and the absolutely horrible crap they blare over the loudspeakers, it just isn't worth actually going in to watch a whole game. It's even gotten to the point where the music is a distraction listening to the game on the radio. It's out of fricking control.

I know, I know, the music pumps up the younger people. Unfortunately, it's the younger people that have the ADD issues. Why are we catering to kids that won't even stay the whole game?

It's no coincidence that we're seeing fewer people in the stands as they're increasing all the NFL type crap.

Okay, you can get back on my lawn now.

Just curious why a night game will cause someone to leave early? We beg and plead for night games but then leave when the clock strikes 9:00?

Just plan to stay the entire game and know that you will arrive home at a late hour. Yes......you will get to bed later than usual but it is only 7-8 Saturdays of the year. What is wrong with being tired the next day? I promise you will recover.

The success of LSU tailgating is a primary reason people leave the game early. Most people simply get tired after a day filled with eating and drinking.

The game isn't the primary event any longer to some people. It's all about the party.

I'm sure at schools where the pre-game festivities aren't as good (which is just about anywhere else) the fans stay a bit longer.

For those of you that leave early to beat the traffic, you must not live in the Baton Rouge area. And if you do, you must not have a job, because you would surely get fired for leaving work at noon everyday to beat the 5:00 traffic jam.

If our attention span is so short, how do you account for talking about the same topic over and over in multiple threads over multiple days?

Again......it goes back to short attention spans of our society. We can't sit still for more than a couple of hours. Teachers are having a helluva of time with the kids today.

I agree TV has impacted the enjoyment of the game but what is better than being in Tiger Stadium that you have to leave?

I work in Port Allen and get home within 30 minutes everyday when I leave work. BR traffic isn't that bad...only when a wreck fricks everything up

Any place without that terrible music screaming at me.

There is a band - use it.
