It would have been great to grow up making A's an B's at school with parents involved and busting humps to make it happen, and then come home to hear neighbor's ragging about no A+'s and tearing the school down.

your analogy is quite stupid and idiotic
Here is a more fitting analogy for you:
LSU is one of the smartest, talanted, gifted kids in the class.
But he only makes average grades despite his high IQ.
However, Some of his less gifted, less intelligent peers are outperforming him on tests and quizzes
His parents (the rant) is angry and upset with him because he is not living up to his potential and wasting his talants with mediocre test grades.
Here is a more fitting analogy for you:
