The Price of Execution

In the first 7 games, the LSU OL was awesome. Suddenly, with Alabama and following, the OL was not executing, or else it had been neutralized (neutered/rendered impotent).
And close to simultaneously there came a season-ending injury to one key FB.
An immediate drop-off was the Fournette express. Plus it was looking like he was being forced (coached?) to run sideline to sideline and not straight forward, which even the talking suits on CBS and ESPN could see was his great strength as a RB.
The injury nobody could help. The OL execution? I don't know. But I do know that at the end of the day, LF7 did not even get invited to the big Heisman party.
I hope our OL players, and the ones responsible for their coaching, will take a long, hard look at how things were done, and make the real changes needed to assure execution by our 2016 OL is not a repeat of this year's inexplicable collapse. Then maybe we will see LF7 not only invited but awarded that Heisman that he was on track to win this year thru 7 games.

everybody wants that; all the fans, coaches and players.
the rub is that when our ground game was stopped there was no other way to move the ball. passing game was pathetic; as bad or worse than last year.
it is simply amazing how impotent our passing game has been.

When the other team knows what plays you're going to call, what specific holes you're going to run to, it tends to help them stop you. Particularly if your opponent is as physically talented, if not a little moreso, than you. (like Alabama)
"Execution" has nothing to do w/ it.

Great thread. You should really consider quitting your day job and joining the national sports media. We need more rantards in the national media with this kind of hard hitting analysis.
