what is so difficult about running an ancient offense that runs 65-80% of the time?

people say this, but reasonably how do you do that, it's rare during a game there is a "good time" to switch QBs...I think the coaches need to choose a QB to start, and they play until the are doing so bad they are replaced. No 1-2 series then a switcharoo.

And yet Alabama has installed a whole new offense, that is one of the top in the nation. You can't tell me the I-formation is that hard to grasp

You're seeing the glass half empty. What if Harris has a breakout game against Auburn? The confidence and psychological boost that would be gained by Harris would be off the charts.

Then that would be frickin awesome. But you don't know that will happen. Look, I think Harris is our future QB. At least that's what I hope. But he could also have his confidence shattered as well. I just think there's a process a QB needs to go through to gain confidence. Fans are so impatient.

JJ was forced into starting and look what happened (here come the JJ sucks and always sucked regardless people). Sorry but I'm a little skeptical of throwing a freshman in there.

As a fan I willing to be patient with Harris and take the mistakes due to inexperience

good intentions paved the way to hell. you may be telling the truth but i'd bet a million dollars the collective LSU fanbase will indeed NOT be patient with Harris and give him a pass on mistakes due to inexperience. this fan base is NOT being patient with Jennings so why in the hell do you think they'll be patient with Harris?

LSU fans always love the back up QB. ALWAYS. if the known isn't perfect, we prefer the unknown. Harris very well likely will not be any better than Jennings this year, imo. throws a prettier ball and probably is more accurate on the short passes. but WE KNOW NOTHING ELSE ABOUT HIM.

Well for starters, Harris needs a lot more snaps than he's been getting. If Harris starts showing he is capable of taking over, then give it to him.

I think the Miles and Cam fear turnovers that Harris will commit. Jennings has been pretty good a protecting the ball.
This is probably the number 1 reason.

Because I believe the talent level between Harris and Jennings is that glaring.

Getting the play into the huddle - I say tie between Harris and Jennings.

Reading the defense - Jennings wins this but Harris is probably getting to be just as good.

Handing the ball off - tie.

Short/Screen passes - Harris by a mile.

Medium range passes - Harris by a mile.

Long range passes - tie.

Running ability - Harris by a little.

Ability to improvise - Harris by a mile.

The only reason Jennimgs got the nod over Harris...Jennings had a better grasp of the playbook

That doesn't bode well for Harris' cognitive abilities because isn't everyone saying we run the same plays over & over without any sort of deviation? I've heard numerous times that 10 year olds & blind old ladies in the stands are calling the play before the ball is snapped; if Harris can't grasp what 10 year olds & blind old ladies have, then maybe Jennings is the only choice at qb.
There are a lot of problems on the offense, starting with the big guys up front who are supposed to protect the qb & open holes for whatever play is called for whatever qb is in there. Until the O-line improves, it may not matter who is the qb. I do believe Harris is the future at qb but if he has no protection & no run game, he will struggle just like Jennings.

brandon harris is a phenomenal QB

Based on what? One aborted drive against Wisconsin and garbage time against MSU?

Harris may be a great QB, but his success last week came in a shotgun, 4 wide set, where LSU was throwing it virtually every play and MSU's defense was sagging. If he were to start, do you really think that is the offense LSU is going to run right out of the gate? Now I think that is probably the offense he is more comfortable with, but (like everything in life) you have to put things in context. With the way the OL is struggling, and LSU's general philosophy on offense, I don't think AJ or BH can really have a ton of success besides a big play here or there.

During the first few games Harris seemed to not always been on the same page during his limited time. Some of that could simply be jitters. Time will tell. I'm not ready to write off Jennings yet, but I'm glad those two guys push each other.

If only we had games like ULM and NM State to give him the meaningful time and snaps and experience in low team risk low pressure environments......

Harris seemed to handle the 2 minute drill well Sat night. Maybe he has made progress in learning the offense

I noticed on my Rewatch of the game that when Harris was in the game they were using signs with the symbols to get the play in. Does anybody know if they did this all game, or was it just for Harris?

Because Jennings doesn't have anything to work on either? FWIW, Harris did get in the game vs ULM. However, he only attempted two passes.

Just for once, I would like to see a quicker approach to our offense (in other words, hurry up offense utilized often).

Once Miles made up his mind as to HIS QB.... Jennings should be getting about 75%-80% of the reps and Harris the rest, so yes Jennings will have a better understanding...

whether he has more ability...time will tell.
