It wont be Jimbo or Herman, they both have opportunities to compete for NATTYs at their current school for the forseeable future. Kiffin will succeed Saban and Sark will be the OC.... We will have to find the next Herman and thats unknown at this moment....but we have to make the right choice the first time...

Strongly disagree. They would have this team competing right now. The head coach at LSU has the entire state of Louisiana to field a great team every year in addition to a few players from other states.

That might be appealing to one of these coaches.

So you're saying we can't hire a good coach but we need to hire a good coach. Gotcha!

When Saban was hired, seems like his name was not mentioned initially as a potential candidate, as it surfaced a while later.

Could it again be a coach whose name has not been mentioned a lot so far?

Just a thought.

You really think Alabama would hand the keys to their Ferrari over to a guy with such a poor driving record?

The Jimbo ship has sailed. They could have had him working behind FSU's back, but that fanbase/boosters won't let it happen now that they were aware of it.

LSU is a much better program than both fsu and especially Houston. They are not even comparable.

I can see jimbo sticking where he's at, but Herman obviously wants to move up the chain. That's why he went from Ohio st to Houston. Most mid major guys plan on moving up if given the opportunity

The next Herman is available now and he is a Off Coord & QB Coach.

Sterlin Gilbert- Texas

Saw that bad boy's offense last week? Awesome

Gilbert is from Texas and former High School coach and learned from Art Briles.

He also was Off Coord and QB Coach at Bowling Green in 2014 where they led the Mid American Conf in Offensive production.

He was at Tulsa in 2015 and stats below:

Player Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate
1 Dane Evans 305 485 62.9 4332 8.9 9.2 25 8 151.6

Had 3 RB with 850, 800 and 500

He is the next Herman because he did that at Tulsa in his first year. Did I say first year

Sterlin Gilbert LSU Coach- Pay him $3M per year. I would be the AD and could not get Herman, that is the guy

Well I think you all need to put the Jimbo Fisher dream to bed once and for all. He is not leaving Florida State. As for Herman at Houston, I doubt he would leave Houston for LSU. He covets Texas or Texas A&M more. I just don't see him coming to LSU.

Someone said it that Kiffin was succeeding Saban so forget that. So lets clear our minds and think about some new young minds.

Craig Bohl - Used to be North Dakota States head coach. Won several titles there and now is with Wyoming. I think he would jump at the chance to coach LSU. Bohl went 104-32 in 11 years at North Dakota State, which included three consecutive FCS national championships from 2011-13. Just saying.

Chad Morris - Currently at SMU. Regarded as one of the brightest offensive minds in college football. Dabo Swinney hired him to fix Clemson's offense. He turned Clemson around with them ranked 1st or 2nd in scoring in the ACC and winning 10 plus games 3 of his 4 years there.

Then you have the usual name that comes up besides Herman and Fisher. Brent Venables - Clemson. I think he will be a great HC once he gets the job.

And don't hate on me, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Steve Spurrier come out of his next at Florida to guide LSU, but his age may scare off the Alumni. Its always fun to throw a name in like his.

I'm not saying my choices are the way, but just something to think about.

Yeah. LSU is the armpit of college football. No head coach would be willing to leave their job to come here! Louisiana produces the worst recruits per capita in America! We have horrible facilities! We have one of the smallest, quietest, dumpiest, stadiums in America! TAF is full of a bunch of cheapos!! Our fans are absolutely unpassionate! We play in a horrible conference! Why would anybody want to leave their current job for this dump?!

Hello, I have been an LSU fan since the 60's when I lived in Baton Rouge.
For my first post here, I know y’all are looking for a successful established head coach,
but I will throw out something that will sound totally
ridiculous, but may add food for thought in the future.
He’s relatively unknown, and it could have been a fluke, but Joey Jones
at the University of South Alabama just beat Miss. State with a team
that only began its football program 7 years ago. South Alabama football
began in 2008 and moved to the NCAA FBS in 2012.
He was an All-SEC wide receiver at Alabama under Bear Bryant and played
pro ball for the Atlanta Falcons.
He coached at the high school level from 1989-2005, then restarted
the football program at Birmingham-Southern College from 2006-2007.

You will get a chance to see the South Alabama Jaguars on Nov. 19th vs. LSU.

Below is a link to Coach Jones page on the South Alabama website:
