-We pay him accordingly and keep the best DC in college football in BR.

-If the Coach O era is successful, great. Aranda will prob land a great HC gig somewhere else when his contract is up.

-If the Coach O era is unsuccessful, we have the best DC in college football to promote as the HC. I have to believe this was some sort of selling point for Aranda to stay.

Of course, I hope the Coach O era is a successful one, but this gives us the perfect fallback option: a smooth transition without having to uproot the advancements of the previous regime.

The next couple of years will allow Aranda to grow as a recruiter in the South while continuing the development of his monster defense. It also gives him the inside track to a premier HC position.

Could you imagine if they fired O then promoted from within again?

I love Dave Aranda, but no fuching way does that happen.

Chances are higher that he's the D Coordinator of the Detroit Lions vs HC of LSU.

He's already insinuated that he ultimately wants to be in the NFL.

Which would be the third DC mind in a row for the Tigers, meaning this board will melt.

Aranda won't be our head coach

Miles was offensive minded - unless I misinterpreted what you are saying.

Agree if O fails then we are really behind the 8 ball and have to get a proven big time winner....and it won't be the loser Alleva running the operation.

Aranda will be an NFL DC.

Don't think he fancies recruiting much, even though he's pretty decent at it.

IMO this is Alleva's Waterloo. If O is successful, Alleva just bought himself some time. If not, see ya.

Genius!!

It'll put a halt to all the Texas whispers, and we get to keep our guy giving us some solidity to our coaching staff

Les Miles was far from a defensive guy. But I can understand people thinking that considering he wasn't really an offensive genius either.

I'm gonna call it more of a survival necessity than a genius move

Contracts don't mean shite. If someone wants him to be their head coach next year for $5M a year he is gone.

This. What was genius about it exactly? It has to happen or the whole program would be fallen flat on its back.

And aranda will not be promoted to HC at LSU. Dumb thread.
