We lost because we phoned in the last 2 weeks of the season and played our way out of a #4 seed, thus playing a vastly superior team in the 2nd round than we would have otherwise.

I can't stand Duke, so I didn't care for them cheering for us.

I can't argue that. At the very least we have to beat Vandy at home. That one loss cost us at least one seed IMHO if not 2. A home loss to a team that did not even make the NIT hurts alot.

The kids weren't ready to play and the defensive gameplan and adjustments were not our staffs best work of the year.

But you're right, having to play one of the best teams in the country in the second round doesn't help our chances, but we were right there with 8 minutes left then made some poor decisions with the ball that led to easy buckets and the momentum swing that did us in.

Lazy passing and ball control has been a problem with this team all year. It was no surprise that it came back to haunt us.

I only got to see in person the home game v. AU very late in the year. So, I'm sure my confidence in our ball handling was skewed. I could still see the other problems. Some I was proud of players for trying to address, some I expected more out of.

Trent had to walk the narrow line of pushing the team to stay reasonably sharp while at the same time assuring there was something left in the tank come March. He couldn't predict and never anticipated we would only get an 8 seed and have to face Carolina in Greenboro. Just one more incident of bad luck for LSU inthe NCAA tournament.

I certainly think he could've anticipated falling to a 7 or 8 seed with a poor stretch at the end and I say we here anticipated as much, and we ain't no geniuses. If we anticipated that possiblilty I assure you Trent did.

That Vandy loss really bothered me at the time as others seemed to want to dismiss it. We didn't come out with intentsity, we had a poor game plan and we finally put Taz on Ogilvy late in the game when it was too late. We're a 7 and possibly even a 6 if all else stays the same and we win that game.

Amen. It was no secret how important seeding was for this team and I never put much stock into the fatique/depth rationality anyway.

LSU's deepest tourney runs in my lifetime, the 81, 86, 87, and 2006 tourney runs were all accomplished by teams every bit as thin as our team this year.

Look it up.

Here's the one reason:

They juiced Ty Lawson up like a racehorse, a Tour de France rider, and a 90s baseball player during halftime.

1. UNC has better talent
2. lazy, dumb passes
3. too many ice cold stretches
4. inability to stop lawson/ellington
5. poor officiating

I felt we got to comfortable jacking up 3s and getting away from Taz down low as well. We had a lot of lazy passes that led to TOs that killed us though too, you are def. right about that. I just hope we keep going up over the next 3 or 4 year stretch. I really think if TJ stays that we will.

Ty Lawson's second half performance. We win that game if he sits or atleast have a shot at the end.

Exactly. Lawson was huge.

4/5 isnt bad. The offication had nothing to do with this game at all. Anyone who wants to say that is just a sore loser. Lawson is the difference in the game. No Lawson and its a LSU win.

LSU had a great year. We have a bright future with a great coach. This team played its arse off, but did not have the horses to stay with a perrenial powerhouse. I thought when lawson was hurting early in the first that we had a shot. Love to know what kind of 'attention' he got at the half. I think TJ has shown that his system works, and hopefully recruits see this and he gets the caliber team that LSU played on Sat.

If we would have won out against Aubby, Vandy, and the SEC tourney we would have been a 3 seed and the possibility of a 2 seed would have been there. Our finish absolutely killed us. Killed us a little too much IMO, but that that is the breaks.

FWIW, Roy Williams "claims" that there was no needle involved at halftime for Lawson's toe. Of course we all know that St. Roy would never lie to the media.

Good reasons listed above, but I will add one that explains the scoring droughts we saw in this and other games this year: we had only two guys who are legitimate scoring threats. UNC had so many more places to look for offense.

Great year for the Tigers, though, and I look forward to seeing some "Trent Ball" in the future.
