In 2014, LSU had its largest chunk of revenue from ticket sales at 35m.

Even a 10% drop in sales is most of Miles salary.

Even if you assume no one in the TAF is willing to give up access and that revenue stays the same, there's about 10m in licensing/ advertising revenue.

It's really pretty reasonable to assume a deflated fan base will cause a 5% effect on the above numbers.

If that happens, getting rid of Miles becomes more affordable.

If 10% happens, it becomes NECESSARY

Why does less revenue make the move easier?

He's already "done in". The only way he can save himself is to win the SEC West this year. You geniuses can quit analyzing this.

If a coach is driving poor performance and that poor performance is taking revenue from the program, his salary is effectively becoming more expensive and his buyout is less scary.

I mean heck, his buyout is a shade under 7m, right?

It is totally conceivable that if Miles shits the bed hard this year, he could almost cost us that much.

You have to stop the bleeding at that point

The economies of fan attendance aren't linear enough to fit your assumptions, and this isn't 2014.

The buyout wasn't the issue in getting rid of Miles last season, the optics of the buyout were.

Alleva sees what we all see. Miles won't be our coach next season.

I simply addressed it for two reasons.

1. Some have posted about how expensive firing him will be

2. Some seem to think it's all about TAF revenue.

Because sports is an entertainment BUSINESS!

If the sales start dropping you have to re package the product, even if you have to spend money for repackaging. The old Miles label has grown synonymous with a shitty product. Fans are no longer buying it.

Does moving the OC to the Press Box excite you?

The money issue goes much deeper than ticket sales and TAF donations. How many LSU fishing shirts and caps and polos and sweatshirts do you think they sell when we're having a good year? And, at Christmas, how many LSU-themed Christmas presents do they sell?

Now, think how merchandise sells will plummet this Christmas if Miles is still our head coach and we've got 5 losses? This is just one of the reasons I think they MUST fire him during the season.

I mentioned those.

It's business 101, if you have something (someone) causing income to decrease then if the cost of replacing it will increase your income back equal to or greater than previous amounts.... Then you make the change as soon as possible.
