We don't have a PG.
TQ- at 6'6 with a long wingspan he's more fit to play SF than PG. He can't consistently get into the lane and distribute like a true PG. He has a tough time setting up the offense and doesn't create shots for other players. When teams press him he seems to get very sloppy with the ball. When he does get into the lane he misses layups and doesn't have the vision to dish to open players. I wish he could play his natural position. When I watch him dribble around trying to set up the offense I cringe. I know Pistol Pete is rolling over too the way TQ carries the ball.
Patterson- seems to only be a SG
Horny- the best pure SG we've had since Thorton. He is a huge asset.
Blankney- SG/SF doesn't look comfortable at all when called upon to handle the rock.
Josh Gray- sadly he is our only natural PG on the team. He could actually work out if he wasn't auditioning for his And 1 mix tour everytime he touches the ball. I like to count how many times he dribbles through his legs for no reason when he has the ball. He's the only chance we had at PG and he failed us.
Simmons- he's the best PG on the team by far. He's the only one that knows how to get in passing position to feed the post. He has the best vision and best handles. When this team is at its best is when Ben gets a steal or rebound and leads the fast break with Horny spotting up on 1 wing, Blankney on the other and TQ running down the lane with him. Unfortunately our 6'10 freak needs to be under the rim drawing fouls and dominating the paint.
Johnny jones- gets a bunch of hate from fans & media for not getting the ball to Ben late in the game. It's a shame our fans listen to what Brent Muscburger has to say about how bad of a coach he is and how timid Ben is late in the games. Johnny Jones downfall this year is not having a "pass first" "high IQ" PG to help Simmons close games out. I blame him for not recruiting one or developing one but I don't blame him for the sh*t show at the end of games. And I surely don't blame Ben. Some people expect Ben to bring the ball down the court, pass it to himself in the post, score, grab the offensive rebounds, draw fouls all while having 4 fouls.
Sorry for the long post but just an average PG like Hickey would take this talented team far. Next I'll tackle the lack of depth on the bench behind Victor. All in all if we get in we got a chance because of the parity across college bball this year

Simmons/Victor pick and roll please.

Now that Victor can hit that elbow jump shot, the pick and pop would be impossible to guard.

This sure makes a lot of sense.

Actually, the issue is we can't defend in a zone or rebound in a zone and all of our bench bigs can't defend.

Lets also realize how soft all of our bigs coming off the bench are. Robinson has to be the softest big dude I have ever seen on a basketball court. He should be dominating down low with his size and stature. There should be no reason he can't back his way all the way to the hoop on most of the defenders in the SEC

We miss Mickey terribly. Most of our players are out of position and having to play up.

Victor is not a center.
Simmons is not a PF.
Hornsby is better suited at SG instead of playing so much SF.
TQ is also more of a SG than PG and not a SF.
Patterson is the one guy I wish would have taken control over the PG position and ran with it.

Mickey would have made this team so good. It's crazy just thinkin about what could have been. Mickey/victor would be an insane combo down low.

This team is soft...mentally and physically.

In every organization a fish rots from the head first.

I disagree.

We have a point guard for a half dozen games... The games that Quarterman shows up! Gray is a turnover waiting to happen, and Sampson in a nonfactor.
