Doesn’t do any good to get the recruits if you can’t coach them up. Go back and look at where we ranked with CR at the helm his last few years here.

People that blame Corey Raymond for 2020 and 2021 are kinda dumb

How about 2022?

2023?
2019?

LSU hasn't had a pass defense inside the top 20 since 2017. Corey Raymond owns that.

you can’t pin pass defense all on the defensive backs… If a quarterback has all day to throw a pass, he’s going to do very well.

And that's fair enough.

I've given my opinion in other posts. Raymond is probably going to demand a premium, and even if he's still a great, but not elite, recruiter, there are better developers out there.

If we're going to spend $8-900,000 on a secondary coach they better have recent excellent success.

You can continue to blame Ed and he does have to shoulder his share. The freaking team quit in 20 and 21. You have to ask yourself why? Pelini didn’t just all of a sudden forget how to coach defense. You can believe that if you want. Raymond and Clark instigated things against Pelini, players themselves said they were not gonna play for him. They need to keep Corey Raymond as far from this football team as possible and never let Ryan Clark back on campus.

But why Aranda feel the need to hire Busch in 2018?

Because as part of his new contract he wanted to make his own hire to bring in one of his guys. However, that’s when pass defense began to take a dip.

Give him a pass here. CR loves LSU. CR loves Louisiana. Reportedly butted heads with Sunbelt Billy. As far as 2020-2021? Covid/Natty hangover for the whole program. CEO takes 80% of the blame here letting things get so bad.

Ok Sulphursfinest. That turd is Mr. defender of Raymond’s BS. He was always covered by his DC and other on field coaches like Busch. Busch knew how to run his defense. They worked together at multiple stops.

Everyone can hate Corey Raymond all you want for your stupid pathetic unfounded reasons the facts are when for 3 years after 2019 nc players left via the transfer portal or the nfl LSU lost a lot of players to that, y’all tend to valunterally forget these things. You would rather blame a coach than to blame two things that has destroyed all these teams roster management, LSU was the team that got it worse, so when you blame a coach and say that one of the best db coaches lost his skills of coaching and recruiting, remember all these db coaches that y’all want to come to LSU, they are all within the same age. Which means they are in their early 50’s. Corey Raymond is 54, terry joseph is 52, Ron Cooper is 52, and yes some are a little younger but remember these coaches just don’t forget how to coach they have been doing it longer than you think

Okay, Orgeron/Covid/Natty Hangover caused plenty of problems for 2020-21.

Here some facts this board forget all too often...

- This is the time frame the NCAA started allowing an additional on-field coach.
- The ever-increasing passing in college led to more school doing the EXACT SAME thing of splitting CBs & Safeties
- A bad pass defense isn't always completely on the DB coach; a shitty DC affects this too.
- According to the folks hating on CR, their arguments against him inadvertently point out that LSU's pass defense was better when CR coached all DBs.
- In 2022, CR only coached CBs at UF. In 2023, he coached all DBs and the passing yards allowed (and total defense) improved despite the team being much worse.
- for those that think he can't recruit, UF had a 5 star DB decommit from them after CR was fired.

He didn’t bomb at recruiting, he recruited 3 good DBs and got the only Top ten player from La(Mack) regardless of what people think he was still ranked high in the state.
Napier was firing people left and right, Corey got the ax, Mack left to Texas. I’m not saying he’s a great Coach but he’s a better recruiter than Steeples, once aligned, there’s enough on this new staff to get him straightened out. I believe he can still recruit, he’s got a chance to restart, drink a Red Bull and get going. Those coaches on Napier’s staff are on a plank headed one way off the end. Have you seen that 24 schedule for Florida , the only thing that keeps them there is if Lagaway shows out. Florida might’ve gave Corey a break firing him early.
