Can someone explain to me why so many people, especially those who didn't go to the game, are so concerned about attendance after a certain point? I would love to understand this. Thanks for your patience.

Well if it doesn't matter in the 4th quarter as the other team is coming back, then it doesn't ever matter.

To those people, though...right? That's not really what I'm asking.

I find the obsession odd.

Normally, it just makes LSU look bad.

On Saturday, it tells the players that the game is over. If 40k people act like the game is over, the college kids playing the game are going to pick up on that and not take things as seriously as they should (and no coach can stop that).

I live in Wales. If I can stay up until 4 AM to watch the game despite having to take a train early in the morning, a bunch of people can stay in a stadium for a couple more hours.

There are people who cannot afford to be at the game, but if they could, they'd be inclined to stay the entire game.

It is the fan equivalent of people who cannot comprehend how a football player would throw away the chance to play at LSU due to stupidity.

People can do whatever they please. But it's a bad look on TV.

Yeah the same people who argue that the team came out flat and mailed it in are the ones who watched the 2nd half from their tailgate.

It's an excuse for Miles to use about why the players become less focused. They figure its not important since no one seems to care for the second half.

I hate this logic.

The reason why some people can't go to the game is because good/season tickets are gobbled up by entitled fans who only go for the social scene and bail after 2 quarters.

No offense to the true fans who contribute $ and actually give a shite

It also has to do with the fact that 15-20 years ago, the people that went were going to watch the game moreso than make an appearance.

Also, the students that go now are much more about trying to get attention to themselves rather than going to support the team. That isn't to say all of them are like that, but it is a much larger portion of that section now.

Finally, the atmosphere at games isn't the same anymore and that has a lot to do with people's belief for the team. I think support is waning with Miles as HC and people are just tired and less enthusiastic sadly.

OK, that actually makes sense. Thanks.

You must be one of the entitled douches who leaves early. I just moved to California and it'll be the first year in many years that I'm not at every home game along with many road games. I'll be able to make a few this year. When I do, I'll call out every one who leaves early just as I did when I lived in Louisiana. For the ones who get upset about it, good. Jingling keys used to be meant for when opposing teams were getting their asses handed to them and left because they couldn't bear it anymore. Our "fans" or whatever you want to call them now, can muster up enough energy to get to the stadium an hour before kickoff and then hit the road at halftime because of traffic, water, tv, technology, it's too hot, old bathrooms, no cell service, bad food that's been that way forever, offense too predictable (best 1st half in MANY years), what else am I missing? Complacency and entitlement is what has caused most of it. It's how society is in general, which Louisiana has always prided itself on not bowing down to in the past. Those days of Tiger Stadium being Death Valley for 4 quarters are long gone and are a thing of the past. A long gone memory and I'm pretty sure is the reason that pains the fans who have always been there through thick and thin over the years. Those days are long behind us. The cell reception will not improve, there will not be less televised commercials, there won't be a magical air conditioner that'll appear, entitlement of today's fans won't disappear, traffic will always be there, a new coach may keep them there 10 minutes longer for a couple of games, ticket prices won't decrease, food probably won't get better than it has been since they started serving it, excuses for it will never stop. It is what it is at this point. At least the ones who lived the true Death Valley of the past can remember what it was like at a point in time. I'll always have a blast tailgating and staying the entire game. I'll look forward to putting on the postgame radio sifting through traffic. But that's just me.

The logic of: "You didn't go to the game, you have no right to blame the fans that left."

There's plenty of people waiting for a chance at season tickets, or decent tickets for less than the price on stubhub, but they'll have to wait for the entitled bandwagon holders to die off.

If the fans are going to be half arse, don't expect the team to be anything less than half arse. The team should be as dedicated as the fan base

A lot of corporate money will have to give up those good mostly empty prime seats before the typical fans filling all the seats of yesteryear has a shot at them.

This excuse is lunacy. Come to any game this year, yes even Alabama. You'll be able to get tickets and Bama won't cost you significantly more than face value.

They are out there to be had EVERY SINGLE GAME. Just show up and you'll get some (and likely at a discount). Seriously, we had maybe 10 to give away at our tailgate alone because of people not coming or having other plans.
