They want to pick what they think is the best 4 teams. That is good news because they will pick LSU with a loss to Alabama.

School - WL% - Opps' WL% - Opps' Opps' WL%
Alabama 0.875 0.577 0.550
Florida 0.875 0.569 0.548

Same record, tougher schedule. That's why Alabama should be ahead of Florida.

That's 1/8 of the schedule. It favors Florida. The other 7/8 of the schedule favors Alabama.

Another question - Will LSU's games be worth proportionately more due to the fact that the whole in which we are basing each game independently will be smaller? That is, smaller denominator, each numerator=1 is worth more relative to the denominator.

I think it certainly can be, based on the answer to the question above; it isn't that simple. Earlier, you based the toughness of the teams schedules on Opponents W/L %. To this point, I think Florida opponents W/L% is missing an almost assured win (and opps opps missing an undefeated season in McNeese St.). What would those %'s look like after that? Are we still convinced that they are meaningful?

You do realize that these rankings are pretty much the only focus of NCAAF right now right? LSU fans are not the only people with opinions here big guy.

A committee voting democratically will always yield results that do not fit into a singular narrative

Then why did you use a "single narrative" to explain the reasoning?

No, this system has an effect until it is replaced. This system relies upon so many variables now, because as you yourself said, each member can judge success by whatever criteria they see fit. Whether that be margin of victory, Opponents' W/L, whatever. There is so much more "How you win/lose" in this system, it is bound to subjectivity. You don't think teams are playing to results? Of course they are, so yes, they do have an effect currently.

Now, the rankings are more meaningless, but the system its self is clearly not. Precedent is being set, so they need to abide by that precedence they are setting to have any sort of credibility.

Lastly, they have all but established that a 1-loss SEC team is getting into the playoff, with a month left to play games.

The only rankings they gave that produced any effect were last year and they were perfectly fine.

I think that would depend on who you talk to.

Bama fans have yet to fathom that a message board is for discussion. Object when discussion doesn't involve Bama, object when not a favorable discussion to Bama. Hence the expected outcome of no unfavorable to Bama discussions.

None til December. As of now, no team has qualified for the playoffs. The only rankings that do anything other than rustle jimmies will be published in December. You're way too worked up over this.

Well, you're obviously referring to TCU and Baylor.

Ohio State had a better record than those two.
Ohio State's opponents had a better combined record than TCU's opponents and Baylor's opponents.
Ohio States opponents' opponents had a better combined record than TCU's opponents' opponents and Baylor's opponents' opponents.

Any comprehensive look at the season shows that the top four in last year's playoff were the best choices. Now, commence cherry picking as usual in an incomplete attempt to refute anything I've said.

I was only answering the question as to how Bama could be ranked ahead of Florida. I gave one reason.

You've twice made this claim that indicates you understand only about half of SOS in general. You're getting worked up and making tons of declarations, and you just don't exhibit a good command of the material.

I'm a cord cutter bruh. XM Channel 84 is my only source of people recycling others opinions on college football.

this was another shitty response by you too, but otherwise I appreciate the dialogue.
