And FWIW, part of the practice was held outdoors, then moved indoors. And when the rest of the team moved indoors, Gonzales and the receivers stayed outside working on some blocking drills. Clearly, Gonzales is tougher than Miles.

So what was Josh Downs' injury again??

that doesn't seem healthy. I guess unless they waited a little while before getting in, but there's no way they should be going straight from 105 degree heat to an ice bath right away.

I'm no doctor, but yeah, I'm sure they were cooling down some as they walked off the field but they were going straight from the practice field and into that ice water. They had a very large room full of ice tubs and probably talked about 5 to 7 minutes on the subject in great scientific detail. Some of those lineman could not even get out of those tubs and had to be helped out. I have to admit, that ESPN show was worth watching. Maybe if LSU can win the NC ESPN will feature us on a show like that because it was informative, cool, and I know the recruits ate that up hook line and sinker.

From what I heard, Downs succumbed to the heat (heat exhaustion). I know Tolliver has a concussion, but hadn't heard that about Downs. Downs was at, but did not participate in practice today.

I heard Saban was looking for a practice facility somewhere along the equator. He said the Bear was a pussy with that Junction stuff way up North in Texas.

That's pretty funny! Not from me, I'm not crazy about Saban since he left and now is over at our rival Bama. But to answer the OP's question about Bama practicing in the heat the answer is yes. Got to admit, that ice thing caught my attention though.

what are these "ice baths" of which you speak? this "ice" as you call it sounds like cutting edge science that we simpletons in baton rouge would be interested in learning about. does sabes (thx SFP) hold the patent? would we have to pay royalties?

TIA.

I'm sure if the Gumps are using them we are too! I would have to be pretty damn hot before I jumped off in a tub full of ice but if it makes a players body recover better for practice the next day and not have as many heat strokes out there then more power to them. On a serious note though, a lot of kids and even NFL players have died over the last 5 years from practicing in the heat so I guess they are trying to stop so many players from having heat strokes, injuries and deaths.
