That happened. It just wasn't the head coach's desk, it was the defensive coordinator's.

I think what you mean is that he ruined the ability to play at the level he built while here. Because before him LSU was shite. Now after him LSU will be shite. So really he didn't "ruin the program." He actually gave the program some life during the 5 years he coached here. Now LSU Basketball is going back to being an awful program.
The Wade fans are actual LSU Basketball fans. Those 5 years of life were nice to have. We endured CJJ and Trent before him and Brady's inconsistency and Dale's ending. Having 5 years of post-season play including 4 consecutive NCAAT berths (yes, I'm including the COVID cancellation), was invigorating. Say what you want, but he didn't lack for passion towards the LSU Basketball program.

The hypocrisy is that everyone knows the top teams are paying top dollar for top talent. You can't tell me Kansas, NC & Duke for example, are getting away with paying players without the NCAA knowing and just turning their heads. I still think old Dicky boy was upset that LSU started to get a lot of talented kids away from programs that he favored.

Of course they know and they expect it. Wade's mistake was not knowing what plausible deniability means. He put no degrees of separation between him and the cheating.
