the baseball gods...They can be for you or against you

Two weeks ago Auburn takes two of three at Missippi State to go on top of SEC West at 14-7. Life is good. Fans love the coaches. The players just "know how to win". With cellar dweller Alabama coming in, Auburn fans figure they are all but assured a super regional as they extend their lead in the West.
Then they drop 5 straight SEC games, three on their home field to Alabama. They are now 5th in the West and seventh overall in ten SEC. Every head coaching decision is questioned. The players just "do not know how to win". It is looking like they will not host a regional, much less a super regional.
So what happened? How did a team go from penthouse to outhouse in two weeks time?
Did the coach get dumber? Did the players lose the will to win?
I think it's just the baseball gods. They are a bunch of ironic, roguish imps that do nothing but watch baseball and mess with people. They can be real dicks if you cross them. If your best hitter is up with bases loaded, just hope the announcer doesn't quote some statistic that he has never struck out in his career with the bases loaded. If a baseball god hears that, he will have your guy not only strike out, he will have him swing at a pitch that bounces in front of the plate for strike 3.

When them little imps are with you you get all the bad hops in your favor, all your balls fall an inch fair instead of an inch foul, calls at first base go your way and your nine hole .200 hitter starts going yard. Look no further than the possum last year. Someone at Arkansas got cocky with their team with a big lead and one of the baseball gods took the form of a baby possum to screw them.
No one really knows how the little pricks work. They can turn on you really fast. I am not sure what Auburn did to piss them off, but the baseball gods are about the only logical reason I can come up with for a team going south so fast.

I blame it on the media.They are wrong about Bama. If anything the gods have jinxed bama.. Media in the this country either sports are politics are clueless. Journalism has never been so bad

the problem with this statement is that it is so general in nature. even the word "media" is no longer applicable w/o clarification. bloggers are media, radio and tv program hosts are media, etc, etc, etc. hell, anyone is "media" on twitter, etc
the "media" is not clueless nor is it bad; it's just that much of it is biased as hell. and the people that rail at the "liberal" media or the "alt-right" media are merely expressing that the events reported are not their opinions, whether factual or not.

Media controls the narrative They don't report that Bama has lost several close games so when they sweep auburn they spin that Auburn lost to a terrible Bama team,Its a false narrative

I am not sure how this thread got hijacked into a media bashing discussion. Certainly the media can be biased, biased both ways depending on your point of view.
Your example misses the mark for me. Alabama was 2-19 going into their series with Auburn. Just because they had some close losses mixed in with that dreadful record does not mean the media unfairly portrayed Bama as a bad team. Relative to the other SEC baseball teams, Bama is a bad baseball team this year. I am not saying they can't have a good game now and then, but it's not the media's fault hey we'd 2-19 going to Auburn and Auburn was a heavy favorite to win that series.

Those same Bama football gods (Joining in with all the nutty LSU pump boys) say "That's Baseball."
They're also up there laughing at LSU Pumpers who think that the addition of OC Matt Canada will be enough to overcome their influence. Bama football gods say "Those LSU Tigers don't have the Offensive Line to compete with us yet."......................

basically you are taking an indirect shot at LSU fans about how they were not supporting the coach and team couple of weeks back and now everyone is all in
