The 10 minutes it took to read the Washington Post attempted hit piece on Kim Mulkey was a waste of time that I will never get back.

The writer’s two-year crusade to paint Mulkey as anti-gay, or sexist, was a complete bust. Even former Baylor star Brittney Griner stated Kim is not homophobic. The most shocking revelation in the article was that she is estranged from the father that divorced her mother to marry a younger woman and deserted her family. Big deal.

As for UCLA Coach Cori Close’s claim that she never read the article before posting it, that’s a damn lie. She read the article from start to finish then posted it to motivate her team. To believe anything else is to suspend common sense.

This was an attack by a liberal left-wing writer published in a left-wing newspaper then used by a California liberal coach for her own selfish reason. They failed. Led by Coach Mulkey, LSU beat UCLA 78-69.

Holding it till Saturday morning seemed to have the opposite effect than intended. Tigers looked pretty focused to me.

The hit piece was neutered by mulkey getting in front of it and threatening legal action. The media and people here said she made it worse, but I can promise you that article was filled with all kinds of exaggerations and lies before mulkey threatened to sue.

Dawn Staley’s attempt was a fail. Don’t start thinking that the USCe ‘son of South Carolina’ guy just chose Kim randomly.

Shoot, he could have chosen Dawn and really would have a story. She’s a piece of work.

She got ahead of it for sure. I was in television for 35 years, ABC, NBC and CBS over that time. Media and reporters ALWAYS cover for each other. Support since Saturday has been almost nonexistent. Other reporters and talking heads recognize the farce of dropping a two year luke warm article with zero news in it as exactly what it is, Babb screaming Me me me. And trying to generate clicks. So, support is gone but there will also be no criticism from other media. Then the LA Times article?? WTF. That writer should be fired and would be in different times. The MSM removed Roseanne Barr immediately for way less.

I haven't read it, nor will I. Quit giving the clicks. Newspapers should go back to paper print thrown in your yard by the paper boy, and we'll see how many subscribers they have.

It was never a hit piece. More people read because Mulkey brought attention to it than would have otherwise

Do you think the part about Mulkey's relationship with her father was ethical journalism? Do you think you needed to know that?

You are right about everything else and wrong on this. We will never know what is in her heart, but her explanation was very convincing, and if she really reposted the article to damage LSU she would have even more reason to do so after being beaten. There are no compelling reasons to apologize unless she means it. If she stuck to her guns she would have the mob on her side.

bullshite. Mulkey shamed it out of her with a compelling defense of her players.

There is a decent argument that the "dirty debutantes" reference is libel or slander, and "republishing" it could subject the person doing so, as well as her employer, to liability. I suspect she was genuinely sorry she had done it, but she was likely advised by UCLA or her own advisors to put out the statement.

You don’t have to be smart to know that ended up not being a hit piece and likely would have drawn very little attention if not for Mulkey capping

It was always a hit piece. Dude was contacting her family and former players under false pretenses. It explains why mulkey was livid. I know more about her family now than I do the Bidens. It's insane.
