one of the benefits of a fresh QB, Zach was probably over-relying on Landry and Beckham, although who could really blame him.

This guy had a lot of confidence in him.

"You'll be a Tiger legend after this drive!"

Glorious and neck with a few big STTDBs right after was the icing on the cake.

Reminds me of a young Drew Brees...

Great athleticism, but a little short
Plenty of spit on the medium routes, but weak on the deep throws
Studies his butt off to get better
Quick release
Moves beautifully in the pocket even under pressure
But most of all he shares this trait with Brees - when on the field he appears to be a wolf among sheep!

Hopefully he'll develop Brees' ability to look off the defense.

That's pretty common in college football though, if you wait until your receiver is actually open it is too late. The QB has to anticipate whether the defender is in position to keep up and in this case he clearly wasn't, he was angling in to cheat inside instead.

Cameron probably noticed a tendency here, took a shot and the players just executed a simple toss and catch, simple as that. Well done.

Truth, it was just a beautiful thing to witness.

They absolutely noticed that. They knew it would be there. I believe they (players and coaches) even commented on this.

Damn good video, Doc. Nice find. It's so awesome to go back and watch these moments on TV after you experienced it in person. The way Dural broke free as the ball was in the air was a beautiful moment.

That Jarvis catch live...oh my goodness. That was literally jaw-dropping.

Thanks for posting, Doc

What I really like is how the coaches trust him enough to go playaction on 2nd down from his own endzone. I know they needed to pass at some point, but to have a freshman turn his back to a DE like that and then deliver a strike was awesome

After watching it again he looks off the safety!!!! His eyes go center of the field and then he looks left and throws!!!

Notttt really. The idea behind that play was that when Landry broke, the corners would jump. If Jennings looked at the safety, which I didn't notice a huge look, it would be to the detriment of the play.

LINK

He ran the play perfectly, which meant not looking off anyone. It just meant looking at the same side of the field that both receiver were on. What's most impressive is he threw the ball before the CB bit.

That took balls, he's got em. Let's hope that they turn into crystal.

it was a quick glance, but he probably checked the safety to make sure he wasn't breaking deep

Though we've only really seen one drive, this comparison seems pretty apt to me. People forget that before Brees became a perennial All-Pro and world destroyer, he was an undersized but athletic quarterback who had what it took (obviously) but would have confidence lapses and make goofy decisions. In that regard, he's ahead of Brees at this point in their career.

It might be worth mentioning that the throw he made to Gordon was very similar to the pass Brees threw that was intercepted by Ahmad Brooks in the 49ers game a few weeks ago. The fact that he's this far along having just turned 19 a month ago convinces me that his ceiling is pretty much limitless.

I said last night that IMO, the best play of that drive was the second play. For him to have the composure to throw from his own end zone, in that situation, was amazing being that his fourth pass attempt of his career.

The ball was placed right over the LB, under the Safety, and before the CB got there! A true frosh ladies and gents!

Really was incredible. Generally you'd expect a freshman to lock on to his #1 target and throw to him even in coverage. Good way to convince recruits they always have a chance of getting the ball

I don't know if we'll see another 1000 yard receiver for a while because the ball will be spread out so much.

2014 is going to be a lot of fun
