I admittedly thought he'd be good, but I remember my first moment of concern was seeing his numbers prior to the season. I think his ERA was over 9 if I remember correctly.

It really isn't as much of a surprise in my opinion. All of last season he was good in short outings but never was great when getting through the lineup for a second or third time.
The same has been the case this year, and his stat lines will look a lot worse because he was left in one inning too long in most outings.
