We all know attrition hits every college football program, but losing 16 of those 27 guys seemed high to me. But I wanted to know how our top SEC West rivals (Alabama, Auburn) compared, so I looked it up.

Alabama signed 27 guys from 2014-2015 at those positions:
18 are still playing for Alabama
4 are in the NFL
3 transferred
1 was dimissed
1 did not qualify

Auburn signed 22 guys from 2014-2015 at those positions:
13 are still playing at Auburn
6 are in the NFL
3 transferred
0 were dismissed
0 did not qualify

The one number that stands out in all of this is the 11 transfers. The other numbers are comparable to Alabama and Auburn. We either have a culture problem causing these guys to leave, or we are taking guys who don't have what it takes to commit and stay in the program for 3-4 years.

I wonder if he can put this information together in a binder.

There is definitely a good bit of blame of put on Miles in terms of how he prioritized certain areas of recruiting, that said this article reeks of covering for O. regardless of anything else we should not be this bad.

Would you happen to have what number of these 11 have left since O took over? Genuinely curious because I thought I remembered a bunch of players leaving over the summer.

Are the players that transferred off of LSU getting playing time for other schools? .....or do they have to sit out some time? It would be nice if you could continue on with that research.....thanks.

So 7/11 transfers in the last 3 years occurred after O took over 7 or 8 months ago.

ETA: I just don't buy the article

Solid post. Miles sold the 'come here for 3 years, then NFL' as a recruiting tool. If a player believes (right or wrong) that he is a 3 year to NFL player, then not playing in year 1 with another talented player ahead of you for year 2 seems bad. Hence a transfer.

I still think its a little unfair to blame Les for thin Depth, losing 5 offensive lineman will hurt anyone

I would normally agree, but Miles had constant attrition and busts with OL recruits.

Who are some of these players that were busts or left under Miles?

IMO, our OL has looked bad since Grimes took over.

This is valid logic I can get behind.

Better than some imagined slight by CEO or Pete Jenkins didn't do an in-home so now they don't want to play for him bullshite.

It's official. The stupid 'binder' cracks are overused and frankly not even funny.

My guess, Miles ran a run heavy offense. High Schools, especially here in Texas are spread oriented. Kids dont want to come here, because our linemen were rode hard and put up wet, with a lot of injuries. Every school in the region has used that against us.

You keep saying this as if it is directly related to Coach O hiring, and you have no clue if that has any truth or not.

We do know Maea Tuehema was basically dismissed for other reasons, as was Valentine and Isaiah Washington, which they called a transfer, but there were other reasons. A)grades B) he was 4th on the depth chart

and we know Willie Allen was already looking to transfer.

I was just saying thats a ridiculous amount of depth lost

If Bama lost that much it would hurt them as well

None of them would have originally been recruited by O.
