Thanks, folks for treating this animal with class.
The decision not to force Mike into the trailer for games made a lot of people mad, but it was the right thing to do. Thanks for that.
Everybody involved deserves credit for his wonderful tiger lair.
And when he got cancer, he was treated with first class care and allowed to die with dignity and with as little pain as possible.
MIke was great, but all you who cared for him are, too.
OTherwise, the support to get a new tiger cub would not be so strong.
Thanks, folks.

My heart breaks for them all as well as for all of our fans. Poor Dr. Baker and the 2 student caretakers.

(Can I ask if yall have thoughts on how they got close enough to him to do what they had to do today?? I so hope that he wasn't in pain. And I so hope that someone was by some slim chance able to hold his paw. )

I have been critical of Dr. Baker in the past on this board for not getting Mike into the stadium, but I give credit where credit is due. He has really been on top of this situation. He gets an A+.

They have a special examination cage that once he goes in he cannot turn his head or move around. They can exam his body and are very careful and professional. These people are on call for mike 24/7. I am proud of the work they do for him.

I did not know that and wondered how they checked him out. I'm seriously hoping someone held his paw. Crazy I know but I'm a momma so I can be a little crazy.

I'm still crying, but I am sure that Dr Baker had all of these concerns covered as he is an excellent x 2 vet and caretaker. He has done a great job and you can be sure that his heart was broken today with what he had to do. It has to be something that he will carry with him for long time. I thank him for his courage.

Totally agree. Thank you for your excellent care of our amazing mascot. That tiger was family.

Can anybody supply the names of the folks who cared for Mike ( in addition to Dr. Baker) so we can thank them?
