Western Kentucky, its an impressive resume.

Thu, Sept 3 @ Vanderbilt W14-12
Thu, Sept 10 vs LA Tech W41-38
Sat, Sept 19 @ INdiana L38-35
Sat, Sept 26 vs Miami (OH) W56-14
Sat, Oct 3 @ Rice W49-10
Sat, Oct 10 vs Mid Tennessee W58-28
Thu, Oct 15 @ North Texas W55-28
Sat, Oct 24 @ #5 LSU ? 7:00 pm ESPN

LSU's offense and Fournette were playing great, but they needed a strong test against a great run defense before facing Alabama. Along came Fla.

Now LSU's secondary has not been playing up to DBU standards, they really need a strong test against a great passing team before facing Alabama. Along comes Western Kentucky.

Thank you Western Kentucky, you are the perfect opponent for LSU at this time. I am certain that Mr. Fournette and Death Valley will make your trip very memorable.

I don't think that we'll be flat against WKU like we were against E. Mich.

Saying that, I hope and pray we move towards putting together 4 solid qtrs. of football and fans show up to see it.

LSU usually comes out and throttles one of their rent a wins every year and plays another close. We've already played the close one, it's time to beat these MFers by 50.

Will be a really good test at this particular point. No doubt, LSU has all the tools to win but this is definitely not a team to take lightly coming off Florida & looking ahead to Alabama. All too often in past games we tended to play to the level of the competition. A convincing win with the secondary being tested will go a long way preparing us for what lays ahead.

Their qb is NFL caliber, but it's been against shitty pass defenses. Vandy is ranked in the 60s and held them to 200 yards passing

Miami (Ohio), Rice, Middle Tennessee and North Texas are all among the worst teams in the nation. Other teams beat them as badly as W. Kentucky. Not all 6 win teams are created equal.

And, even worse, Vandy is ranked 123 in offense. If Vandy had any offense in their game they would have shredded WKU.

For over a half, no.1 ranked Ohio st was unable to score against Indiana, then they finally got it going. Western Kentucky's QB had no problem lighting Indiana up.

LSU's secondary doesn't appear ready to play as a group against team like Alabama this week. Playing a strong passing team like Western Kentucky is always a bit of a gamble, but its just what LSU needs to prepare for Bama.

Alabama already saw that it won't be able to just run against LSU, but they also saw how other teams are passing on LSU's secondary. Doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what Bama will do.

Yep
2014 - I guess you could say the 31-0 was a letdown depending on who you asked, but we stomped a top ranked FCS team 56-0 (someone similar to who Auburn needed to go overtime to win against) and we crushed NMST 63-7

2013 - we pretty much destroyed every patsy OOC team, but we struggled early with Furman because of two ints. We still put up over 600 yards of total offense and 48 points though.

2012 - we struggled with FCS Towson 38-22, but curb stomped the rest of the OOC teams by an average score of 48-10.

2011 - raped everybody

2010 - well we won 32-10 against McNeese St so I guess that's a disappointment. We die destroy ULM 51-0

So that is the last 5 years. WKU will pass the ball A LOT. They have thrown no less than 30 times in any game. He'll hit 40-50. Our main problems have been being out of position A LOT, and not getting enough turnovers. We have forced 2 fumbles and both have come by strip sacks. We only recovered one of them. We are 114th in forced fumbles and tied for dead last with 1 fumble recovery. We have 6 ints which is tied for 46th, and tied for 34 at exactly 1 per game.

We need this game to improve ourselves on defense. We've been entirely too soft.

They are a great passing team. LSU needs this sort of test. I have no illusions, Bama is going to do what other teams have been doing against LSU, pass the ball a lot. LSU's secondary is talented but they just haven't learned to play together as a team.

At some point in this game, I'm hoping Western Kentucky's passing offense will force LSU's secondary to play the way they need to be playing when they face Alabama.

As Les Miles will say after this game "Just what we needed"

WKU is far better than EMU. How'd the Tigers fare against them at home?
WKU appears to have a mediocre D so I expect our O to light them up. I see this to be a high over/under game.
