Please baby Jesus and baby Mr. Coach Chavis;

Remove the God Damn prevent formation at once.
We do not know how to execute it properly. If its intended to hand out chunks of yards and a score within 60 secs, then its working.

I agree with this post. When your front 4 can't get pressure consistently, it's time to get creative. I freaking hate the stupid arse rush 4, drop 7 strategy.

it's not really a prevent thing as much as the Jalens don't look particularly adept at playing zone. they've had their positive moments (see Collins' pick of Manziel for an example), but they seem like they give too much ground initially and then don't break on the ball that well once it's in the air.

I like how that fact that we got the pick 6 covers up the fact that we almost allowed MSU (just like South Carolina, Texas A&M and Alabama) to drive the length of the field in late game situations with relative ease.

Of course, I'm not sure how you can expect the players to have a killer instinct to put teams away, when you run a FB dive on 3 and 4 in the fourth quarter on your opponents side of the field. The play calling has gotten much better, however, two weeks in a row now we have played conservative when the opportunity to really throw the knock out punch on offense was presented.

Both corners line up 15-20 yds off the LOS. Its not the player giving up too much ground, thats the formation. Press coverage would be too risky in that situation, but 5-10 yds would be safe imho.

And btw, I know Chavis knows more than me/us.

I don't understand why people insist we were in prevent against Bama. You don't blitz against prevent. The last drive against Bama we blitzed on every play including right into the screen pass to Yeldon.

They threw 2 20yd outs prior to that play. Our corners were 25 yds off the LOS. That is a prevent, regardless if we blitzed or not.

Very soft zone / prevent....I think most everyone understands the difference in the two, but for this situation it's semantics.

No they weren't. I have rewatched that drive ten times trying to see it. They were 10 yards off the line. Unfortunately on two of those catches, we blitzed and they threw right where the blitz came from. Then we blitzed right up the center of the screen. Logan said himself they tried to check out of the blitz, but Collins couldnt hear them.

We didn't blitz on those plays. We lined up with a three man front and brought a 4th rusher. We blitz on the screen and payed for it.

We were definitely in the zone, but im sorry I will not agree that a soft zone is a prevent. Like I said, they caught us in the blitz 3 times.

So what would you call a blitz?
