A lot of the Texas sidewalk ncaaf fans are UT fans /nfl fans are cowboys fans.

The Aggies were homogeneous as a group - primarily an alumnus/family following for a long time as well as homogenous with a high conformity with the group-think.

This is one of the reasons why they come across as an odd bunch.

Only an Aggie can come up with a corny nickname like this.

According to a lot of the posters on their forums, they make it seem like east TX is Elysian Fields while Louisiana is Hades' outhouse. There is no respect for Louisiana or Louisianians except for the ones who play for their team.

Maybe you just haven't come in contact with their fans. They are obnoxious and somehow cocky (for some reason).

We used to have a family of Aggies who lived down the street from us during the rivalries heyday (late '60's/early '70's). They used to put up a spirit banner across the front of their house and billeted band members in their home.

Terrible things happened to their house on A & M weekend. I can still remember when aTm beat LSU 20-18 in 1970 and the toilet paper ended up in OUR trees.

This all died down when most of the kids graduated from LSU and are now Tigers

It'll take something like cigars on our field, Spurrier running it up in the 90s, or Nick Saban for true hate to ensue.

How about them being a bunch of cultish weirdos who are an embarrassment to football?

They will argue all day long that there is nothing gay about this at all.

yep. I was at LSU in the late 80s when we played a+m yearly, then I moved to Houston for 15 years. My aggie hate is pretty well established.

I did. That's when I started to like the Aggies. Pretty much every Texas school hates the Aggies mainly because they can't ever aspire to beat the Horns, so they set their sights lower. Everyone shittalks the Ags in this state, so I can see why they are defensive. But it actually makes me dislike the other schools for having settled for never being able to compete with Texas.

And this just in for the Horns -- if you spend all day trying to convince me someone isn't your rival, that's pretty much proof they ARE your rival.

The Ags are fanatical. In Texas, it's considered weird. In the SEC, it's normal.

yeah....they're still kind of a novelty act and the fanbase does exhibit that easily led, cultish mentality. problem is, as with any cult, they can demand and get a ton of money from their followers and we all know that money buys power.

this...and atm feeds the fruityness by initiating a copyright claim for his goofy nickname....really?

quote:

feel relatively no hate towards them compared to Alabama, Auburn, and Florida.

true....that level of hate is reserved for traditional foes who, seemingly, have a birthright to preferred access to the league office and it's arbitrators on the field. atm could aspire to that status sooner than you think....but that would require them to sustain a long term committment to the SEC and they have shown by action and deeds that they will always be looking for a better deal. From the very first day of orientation, i.e. Fish Camp, the indoctrination begins. They are told that no outsiders will understand them and only fellow Aggies can be trusted. Pretty soon, groupthink sets in and they defend all the moronic, reactionary "traditions" against all outsiders. This is why working with an Aggie can be a nightmare. They are prone to having a victim mentality and distrust non-Aggies. The ironic thing is that 98% of the Aggies I've met claim to be "2%ers", people who didn't buy into the Aggie mindset. But their true colors usually come out in the long run.

Another Aggie irony is that they portray themselves as having honor and ethics above most others. However, their football program is historically one of the dirtiest programs in the NCAA. Their success against LSU towards the end of the most recent rivalry in the 90's coincided with A&M being on probation for major infractions. I believe this comes from the Little Brother syndrome in relation to U of Texas. The Aggies overlook the rules and ethics if it helps them be competitive.

Their fan base is a study in contrasts. They appear to be humble but have a sense of entitlement, and their rivalries are built on hate more than the love of their own school.

Sorry for the post length.

Only reason A&M argues that Yell Leaders are not gay at all is because they get whatever arse on campus they want. As hard as it is to believe to other fanbases, there are two ways to get unlimited vagine when in the corps at A&M (which I was not, thank god).

1. Yell Leader- Voted on by student body, usually won by corps member because corps block votes. My father was one, and some of the stories would make Tucker Max blush.

2. Dog Handler- Sophomore that has to take Miss Rev wherever he goes. Girls go crazy for that bitch.
