I'll vote for vs. GA in '03. Crazy loud.

87 tOSU was before my time but 03 UGA was crazy

Very loud but I have to go with 03 UGA also

Thank you. The OP made me go find this game on YouTube. We should have won this game.
Much like the '88 game. Frustrating, but it is proof that LSU was LSU, long before the 2000's

If Hodson could have one throw in his career to do over I guarantee he picks that INT at the end.

Bama 2012 was pretty loud too.

We're talking day games my man. Read the thread title.

I remember listening to this game on the radio--I think it was John Ferguson's last year as announcer before he retired.
Tom Tupa apparently expected the refs to quiet the crowd on that first series. Ferguson said: "The refs have told Tupa: 'You're gonna have to play ball, son!"
You notice looking at those old games that the Tiger Stadium crowd seemed to have a chip on its shoulder then--something that seems to be missing now, even when the crowd is "loud."

True. I wish we could find another Hodson though.

We were always the underdog against the major programs. The fans took pride in the team and Louisiana and every national televised game was an opportunity to show it. Games just seemed more intense back then.

Was at both. Ohio State is still the loudest I've ever heard any stadium. 03 is my all time favorite game though.

I remember Hawthorne calling games in 1987

Call me crazy, but I still think that pre-upperdeck Tiger Stadium was more intimidating. Is there an acoustic engineer in the house?

Yeah let's be honest the people sitting in the upper deck really don't make any noise. The times I've sat up there no one is screaming when the d is on the field. They probably assume they're too far away to make an impact

I was there, it was very loud but as said, the tie sucked big time.

I was only 5 in 87... But 03 UGA was as loud as I've ever heard TS day or night.

Not that it's terribly relevant to this thread, but the field is painted "differently" to accommodate the filming of "Everybody's All American". During halftime they would bring the actors on the field to shoot the 'game scenes' for the movie.
And yes, it was very loud that day.
