Tale of two tigers

Everyone points to 1/9/12 as the night the heart was ripped from the Tiger program, but I contest 12/31 of that same year was the solidification of the decline. A 10-2 Hill/Mingo/Mettsiah led LSU team met 10-2 Clemson in the Peach bowl. We complained at the match-up and predicted we’d destroy them. They beat us by 1 point after holding us to 1 yard of offense in the 4th quarter. 1 pathetic yard!!! We haven’t won 10 regular season games since then. We’ve been beaten into obscurity and haven’t won a game of major significance. Now...look at Clemson. Before that year...there was talk of Dabo not being the answer. I heard Clemson fans say, “This experiment isn’t working.” Now what have they done, since? Complete opposite of the real tigers. The fake Death Valley inhabitants are in the CFP for the 3rd straight year and we are complaining about concessions, Alleva, and pseudo fans leaving at half-time. What’s it gonna take for us to stop the bleeding and make the changes to be relevant again? I am so proud we are 9-3 and turned the season around...but make no mistake....we are no longer ELITE...Middle of the pack sucks. I can understand Alabama always being considered “a superior program”....They were for years and I loathe them. But Clemson is now elite? I’m ready for the real TIGERS to stand up and roar.

Beat bama; become elite

You can draw parallels between Dabo then and Orgeron now. Both folksy, country/ cajun guys who treat the media well, willing to share their thoughts unlike the button down coaches who lead most programs. Many people sold Dabo short at the time. Lets see if Coach O can be lke Dabo and turn the doubters into believers.

2015 would have been a 10 win season had McNeese not been cancelled, so there’s that.
Also, that team losing to Bama in the final two minutes was what broke that team. If they win, they get to play Georgia for the right to beat the shite out of Notre Dame in the Championship.
Clemson caught us sleeping and Chavis proved once again he isn’t an elite coordinator and survived solely on that talent that he didn’t even recruit.

The decline was in recruiting and wasn't really seen until 2014/15

Is this where we insert our daily Orgeron sux thread?

No...I’m a fan of Orgeron. However, he needs to take notice of what Dabo has done at Clemson.

Well, maybe, but on 4th and long a Clemson receiver made a great catch to keep the winning drive alive and get them near field goal range or LSU wins by two points. So maybe give Clemson some credit, It was not all LSU failure.

Didn't we throw it 3 straight times and run virtually no time off before we had to give it back to them for the final drive? Seriously, I can't remember but I thought it was some classic Les Miles mismanagement or some shite like that.

well, to be fair, that receiver was Deandre Hopkins. Very few defenses have every successfully contained him

Venables stunted us to death.
I was so pissed. We complain about adjustments, we did zero on the OL and he just kept doing it to us.
Backs blocking air and OTs blocking cleats.

No, you really can’t.
Other than being interim coaches that were given the full time position while never having been coordinators, they traveled wildly different paths to their ultimate positions at two even more different programs.

Best hire Dabo made was Venables.
They became an elite defense at that time.

Came right after his best firing, Steele. Then LSU turns around and hires him a few years later.
