Bamaman, you should park near East WAshington Ave. and setup there. Nice and quiet!

Too much conflicting advice.

The plan is to get out there at 6AM, get to the east lot, and proceed cautiously when scoping out a tailgate spot. If I meet a hostile person, I'll simply ask what they think is best, offer a beer/food and cooperate. It's gonna be a long day, no reason to start shite early and let it build up for 12 hours.

3 quick questions:
How close do you think I can get my truck to my tailgating spot? Are you allowed to leave the parking lot once you enter it? And if I needed someone to drop something off later in the day, could I meet them close to the entrance or road easily and get it from them?

I tailgate in that lot...it is much more family oriented than a lot of the other areas...don't let your crowd get too out of hand and don't play a bunch of blaring rap music over everyone else's music and you will be fine...

there is plenty of space, so there is no need at all to get there at 6 AM...if you arrive before 10 AM, you'll be fine...most people tailgate out under the oak trees and there is usually some room there...if all else fails, just tailgate along the side of the batting cage building (it provides nice shelter from the elements anyway)...

to answer your specific questions...you can typically back your truck up to your spot and actually use your tailgate to set up on....you cannot leave the lot once you enter...having someone drop something off is not technically easy, but as long as there is not a hell of a line and you are cool, the ladies at the gate are usually pretty accomodating...

I'll keep an eye on this thread, so if you have more questions, just ask...

You are my hero.

I knew there were different types of tailgating lots depending on who's there normally, so I appreciate the heads up on that. Personally, I'm not a rap music fan (I prefer the older stuff, rock, and country) so there shouldn't be problems with that. The core group of people who I expect to be there most of the time won't be too rowdy, I'll certainly try to reign them in if things get a little too crazy. I'll try to setup along the outskirts of this lot, just in case my people decide to get a little loud; at least I can direct them opposite of where most of the families would be if we're on the outskirts. (So if you have a specific suggestion on where that might be relative to the parking lot, I'll definitely try and set up there)

I'm also happy to know we don't have to get there by 6AM. Like I said, my buddy won't be able to land in NOLA until 11:30 tmrw night thanks to the Navy taking forever to approve his leave, so I know he'd like to get a little rest before we head out there.

Appreciate the answers. If I know me, I know I'll forget something or run out of something I need and will have to tell someone to bring it to me, so I'll try and make friends with the gate ladies pretty quickly.

Again, thanks for the help. Like I said, first time tailgater at LSU so my trial run is coming on the biggest game of the year...no pressure at all, right? I doubt there will be many Bama tailgates in that area, so drop by and ask to speak to the guy who drives the obnoxious red truck with Bama flags on it.
