Yep. Not worth the bullshite to tailgate. Gates open 3 or 4 hours before kick off. Pointless. Gonna bar hop around downtown or Midtown and then take the rail to the stadium to watch the Tigers kick arse.

I keep hearing about taking the rail And that sounds like a good plan. One question though for those that have been to a Texans game.

How will the rail be after game? Long lines to get on, completely packed trains, etc? Or does Houston have it down and leaving the game on the train won't be that bad.

Houston has few public transit things down. While I've never ridden the train after a Texans game, I've seen some hellacious looking lines at that station outside the dome after games.

Never been, but if the rail lines are long I'm sure a cab or Uber would be an option. I'm guessing Uber operates in Houston?

And that was last year when watching the Texans was akin to watching a porcupine skull-frick my grandma

...which doesn't draw SRO crowds.

I did it for the Final Four and yes there will be a line but it was kept moving as quickly as possible. It was certainly easier to get out of there than it is a typical game at Tiger Stadium. It's a little walk over to the rail of probably about 1/2 of a mile.

Will they be serving beer inside stadium during the game?

Here's an option I'm considering. A little pricey but maybe worth it due to heat, etc.

This is what our group is doing. It's certainly not worth setting up our own tailgate, and $50 really isn't that bad. I had no problem paying that considering the convenience, food included, music, AC, and whatever else they throw it. It should be a good time.

Cash bar and a "meal ticket" isn't enough to entice me. And considering tailgating isn't even allowed to start until 4pm I will grabbing lunch and drinks in downtown and midtown.

ok, have fun. Anywhere I go, I'll end up spending the same amount or more anyway. Plus what I spend here goes back to the school.

I've purchased 2 tickets to the tailgate as well. You're not going to beat that price unless you eat mcdonalds. I went to the Oregon game in Dallas and it was blistering hot out there, woulda gave anything for some A/C and water. And trust me, drink prices around the stadium will be ridiculous for even a coke.
