Anyone been to Lexington before or game day? I was reading here I believe that there is good tailgating at The Hill near Keeneland racetrack. But what about anything on or near campus? Is that worth checking out or is Keeneland scene the place to be that weekend?

Bye I tired posting this as a reply to a Lexington thread that someone posted here but it didn’t pop it back to top. I guess that means that threads anchored? Anyway thanks in advance for any advice here.

Yeah I posted in that thread but it didn’t show up. So I assume that means it’s anchored?

Keeneland will be hopping that weekend and a lot of fun to be at during the day, but that won't be centered around football. In my experience a trip to keeneland is having a couple drinks at the car before heading in to watch the races. The hill is mostly for high school, college kids, and those less interested in going into keeneland itself. With that crowd it can get pretty rowdy. Being opening weekend of the keeneland meet there will be a big crowd and a good bit of fun to be had. Dress decently (slacks and a sport coat) and you'll fit it well. Unless you buy a grandstand, clubhouse, or box ticket there's not a ton of seating so be prepared to be on your feet most of the day.

Hopefully the football game will be in the evening or at night. If so you can spend most of the day at keeneland before catching an Uber to campus. The tailgating scene around the stadium is nice but not like BR. This is good and bad. Less raucous crowd but less traffic to fight and less annoying opposing fans to deal with. In my experience UK fans are nice and amicable. They aren't likely to talk trash so be nice and cordial and they'll treat you well. Lots of families and parking close to the stadium relative to other big time football schools.

Keeneland

Races three days before and the day after the game. Keeneland does not have to be done on game day.

That's true. If you've got the whole weekend you can go nuts Thursday or Friday. I thought OP was implying he only had Saturday to do both.

My bro and I are bringing our 7 yr old boys. Any good ideas for game day without wearing khakis and a polo?
