Anyone got recommendations for tailgating at South Carolina? Staying a couple miles away and is there parking where we could tailgate or even park a rental motor home? Or should we just hit bars etc till game time?

There is a 1st come 1st serve motor home parking lot across the street from the stadium east side. Last 2 times we played there, it was full of LSU faithful.

Several friends and I would also like some information regarding tailgating being that the SC State Fair is that weekend. After searching TD the last couple weeks on it, it seems that Blowfish Stadium is the main spot? However, I've looked at it on Google map and it looks like a small fenced in parking lot. Hopefully someone can provide some info on where the LSU fans will be.

I found this thread from 08 with some pretty good info on the topic.

Looking at google maps, there appears many large parking lots with grass neutral grounds. The Blowfish stadium seems kind of out of the way but it is suggested in the thread above as a place to park and tailgate.

I would like to know about these regular parking spots with the grass neutral grounds and also what appears to be grass lots south of the stadium. Seems like parking and setting up shop is the way to go, but I have never been to Columbia. Are these spots reserved? What do they cost?

ETA: pulling distance on google maps, the Blowfish stadium is about the same distance from Williams-Brice as Lod Cook is from Tiger Stadium. I'd like to be tailgating a little closer to all the action.

All the parking lots around the stadium are all prepaid assigned. Ive been many times, but only with an USCe Alum that has a spot. Seems like most people park along the streets and walk, or in one of the businesses that have $10-20 lots close by. Good luck!

Actually, that's apparently not the case. Looks like it starts the following weekend, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I walked to the tailgating grounds the last time I attended a game there as a non student. It was a rather short walk and cost nothing. Of course, I didn't have to carry anything though.

All of these spots are prepaid assigned?! That has to be like 20,000-40,000 spots..

I was thinking we would be able to park somewhere in the red areas and just set up shop behind our vehicle..

I started planning my trip.
Usce grads say tailgating is really just out of the back of cars. Most gamecocks just park and go to the game.
No walking around with glass, but alcohol otherwise is fine.

Said the campus is nice to see but no real pageantry. Some shops to visit "like a magazine st".

Hotels are pretty booked up, so just stay wherever you can get a spot.

There are two after-party scenes:
5-points (think tigerland)
The vista (think downtown BR).
