Our group has had a tailgate for a while but we are running into tv troubles this year. Are there any other options to pickup cable channels other than satellite or wireless internet signal? I realize its a long shot but where we are we are not guaranteed to pickup wireless from a nearby building.

TIA

We use the Tailgater from Dish... it's $80 a month. Pony up a few dollars, it's well worth it.

Cable would consist of espn games. Name one good ESPN game to ever come on during daylight hours?

You only pay the months you need it.

The tailgater dish is right up there with my Honda generator as my two greatest tailgate investments ever.

We use a cell phone hot spot and Watch ESPN app that projects right on to the TV. HD antenna for local games. And my Honda EU2000i which is the best generator for tailgates.

For adding on to existing Direct TV account

Adding a HD receiver (no DVR capabilities) is $99 plus tax

$6 per month for additional box

Some people at Direct TV struggle with the concept of tailgating so just say it's for an RV and you do not want installation.

Can cancel additional box at anytime, however, I suggest holding on to it because it only works for the account it was activated on. You will not incur the $99 hardware fee if you use it in the cumming years.

Advise buying a tripod for ~$50.

Do you or someone you know have Dish Network with a SlingBox enabled receiver?

If you have this and an iPad with cellular service or and iPhone5 or later you can buy a lightning to HDMI adapter and SlingBox the game to your tailgate TV via this adapter with the DishNetwork iOS app.

I hooked my Longhorn buddy up last weekend, he doesn't have Longhorn Net but I do on Dish, gave him my login and the cable and he was able to SlingBox the game from my receiver at home through his iPad to his TV. Just need good 4G or LTE signal wherever you will be.

I resell DirectTV and DISH so I did a little research for an LSU friend w an RV.
IMHO, DISH is better .
$ 7 / month which does not have to be adhered to for an entire year... month to month.
I found the complete equipment for the RV at about $ 450...new ..FWIW
At that time DirectTV did not have SEC Network yet
