Tailgaiting For Kentucky Any Almost Guaranteed Spots To Get On Campus

Last year during the Washington game there was some open space near the Pentagon. Can you get in someones usual spot and be ran off? Any other pointers would be helpful. We are going to have about 12 people and two canopies.

I am not big on the tailgating scene...so someone help me here. If people tailgate in one spot for a long period of time, like every game for a certain amount of years....then show up one Saturday and some noobs have "taken their spot', what happens? Fisticuffs? Some sort of calm resolution?

kind of like the unspoken baseball rules, its pretty bush league to just show up and take someones spot they've had for years.
Safest thing to do is wait until gameday morning, bring your stuff out, find an open space and set up, if anyone comes up talking shite then its kind of their own fault for not being out there until gameday afternoon.
The pumpers on here of course will tell you they get out there thursday night, first into the stadium, leave stadium after the janitors are done cleaning it, then continue tailgating until classes resume monday morning.

as a pro tailgater, most groups will "Mark" there spot on Friday with either with a trailer or tent frames. as long as you give some space to those you should be fine.

Seems to me that it should be "first come first served"?? Who cares if you have had "your spot" for years? Unless you can show me a title deed to that property, it isn't "yours".
But I am sure I am the a-hole who doesn't get it.

I would try to fight you if I showed up and you were in our spot. Not kidding

What makes it "your spot"?

It's a courtesy. As you get bigger, you add supplies that fit your space. If others come and take your spot, it really sucks.
Also, people may stop by once a year and having the same spot allows them to know exactly where you are. I agree that as long as you wait till gameday at any time, you should be fine taking a spot.

You ever see anyone tailgating near the Pentagon?

That is all fine and good....I get it. I don't agree with it, but I get it.
But back to the question I posed earlier....do altercations happen over this type of stuff? Any stories there?

Yep...
And after years of being in the same spot, you are familiar with the people that tailgate around you and sorta look out for each others spot. Ive had to tell people that certain spots are taken, and the people that tailgate around me have done the same for our spot.
But what we all do is go out there on friday and mark our spots with tents and chairs and other tailgating shite. But sometimes there are those assholes that try and move peoples stuff and try to get in there and all that shite. Doesnt fly.
But the parade grounds is typically a free for all unless you get out there and mark your spot on friday night. But saturday, its a free for all. Just gotta get out there early and hope to get a good spot with some shade.
