I think this might be old I cant find a date. But that being said. If the athletic department gives this much back to the university and they still are money strapped do we not need to seriously look at some restructuring of the university spending wise?

The AD is required to give back at least 7 million a year.

It's every year not just this year. LSU gave over 30 million a few years ago

More like some really tough decisions need to be made regarding the obscene number of 4 year colleges w/in the state. Legislators need to finally step up and DO THEIR JOBS !!
The ridiculous duplication of degree programs is border-line insane....CLOSE several of these campuses and/or transform them to technical/trade schools. First up...SUNO, then Nicholls, merge Grambling with either LA Tech or NE La and make Southern a Jr.college/merge with BRCC.
IF, the state had real leaders/statesman, we could accomplish some of these common sense tasks. Leaders that do the right thing and NOT worry about their own re-elections !

Walk anywhere on campus right now and there is another remodel/ new construction project going on (Big building on Nicholson by the Box, engineering building adding 575k sq/ft.)

These are not small projects.

How are we broke with all this building?

A lot of the construction is primarily paid for by private donations specifically for each project.

Too many small colleges in Louisiana. They need to be closed and the money needs to go to LSU.

The linked article is from July 20, 2015. The LSU Athletic Department transfers money every year to the academic side, nothing new.

TAF is the Tiger Athletic Foundation, not the LSU Athletic Department.

I really appreciate that you weren't making decisions when I graduated from one of the schools on your list.

I got a job and paid my tuition but I was able to live at home because I didn't have to go to a school two hours away.

If the closest school was two hours away I simply would not have gone to college. My folks couldn't afford that room and board
